With the 14th of September just a couple of weeks away, we need to get this legendary tailgate party started! Any ideas or suggestions from any of our regulars for a theme? It's the cocky Seawoks, and they are sure to show up flocking in from parts unknown. It would be great if we can bolt down and spoil their festivities coming into the new season. We are planning on being in the same general area that we have always been in, but we will have to move over about 50 feet or so. That would put us at the first pillar from our old usual spot. There will be refreshments, BYOB of course, and we may even have some entertainment if we can get some volunteers or a good DJ. What are your thoughts? Let's start putting this thing together. We will need to get a head count, figure out who is bringing a particular food item, etc. If you are planning on showing up and partying like a rock star with us, let us know. Stand up and be counted, let us know if you are bringing family or friends. Opposing fans are always welcome if they can take a little smack. And as always, our motto at our spot is "We don't hate, we tailgate!" Let's pluck the Seaducks!!! GO BOLTS!!!

    Thanks,

    Pointy :bolt:

    I'm in :)

I'll do deviled eggs for sure and another side or dessert if needed. Easy-Up will be making it's cameo as well.

^^^Did you get that canopy from Costco? Sweet!

Do we still need a food theme for this tailgate? Eggs do qualify, since we are playing the Seachickens...

Didn't see one at Vista Costco yesterday but going to check Wal-Mart this week and I'll check the Cbad Costco too - ideally it'll be the charger one, in a pinch it'll be navy blue - no matter what, there will be shade :abq2:

lol hopefully it won't come to that - the gas alone might cost as much as the canopy!

    In Chula Vista

Oh yeah, an 8x8 canopy at Walmart is 100 bucks.

A 10x10 canopy at Costco is 159 bucks.

Thanks to Charlie for doing the research.

IIRC Ant said he's coming in for the game and I swear I'm going to try make it. I will bring something, prob just some beverages of the alcoholic persuasion, I'll surprise everyone (which would be the case if I actually showed up lol). I just have to work out some details w/ the wife (she doesn't like going early for whatever reason, meh).

I hope to be represented by a fellow Irishman, who goes by the name of Colm Kelly who is attending with his father in law (don't think he is married to the daughter yet but... so "father in law" title might not be official). Colm is a Packers fan (God loves a tryer) and runs a podcast here in Ireland via www.overtimeireland.com.

Raise an irish car bomb or 2 for me!!.. I'll be thinking of yee.

Just throwing this out there, do we want to do a Meet & Greet on either Friday or Saturday before that home opener? Maybe we can meet at one of the breweries (since they are inexpensive) or at one of the local watering holes as some of us have in the past. Good times!

Carlsbad, Vista and San Marcos Costco's are all sold out of canopy. Lake Elsinore supposedly has 15 in stock. Going to check Wal-Mart tomorrow but I know Vista is out. Found one on Amazon for $190 (straight leg) $167 (angled leg) not sure if there's a preference?

Meet and Greet would be fun :) not sure I can do Saturday but Friday might work.

I took these at the Chula store last week Sara. Me and Victor were talking about starting a collection to help you with funds since we all would be using the shade. I am in for $25. Anybody else here down to donate to the cause? :)

Me and Irene might be able to make it. Are you thinking about a 'family' place that allows kids too?

Like I said, all ideas are welcome. What about Eastlake Tavern and Bowl? Or any place that allows kids and has adult beverages, or just a pub or ale house.
As far as the canopies, it looks like Charlie hit the motherlode there. They all seem to be down south.

I could be up for that but my schedule is a little unsure. Depending where everyone is coming from we could meet someplace closer to central SD like Mission Valley.

The canopy is pretty cool, if I new it could handle the weather here I'd get to use as a mini carport.

Seau's is now a Buffalo Wild Wings?.... wow, kinda sad but I guess some of the former staff might be working in the new place?. Killing me to think I can't be there for all this craic. Cannot wait to get back to SD some day.
