Might have been interested if we'd not just brought in 'thataboy' Travis.

I know Travis is an OLB but he is really just a pass rusher as is Osi in a 4-3. The likes of Travis and Barnes will become that player when we give a 4-3 look.

Actually, I see that he is 28, too young, my bad... :)

Would he stand up and play OLB in our 3-4 look?

Osi would be a pretty good addition. Do we have the cap space for him?

Does anyone really think that AJ will actually (or even should) trade away a high draft pick and give Osi a monster contract, when he has never player 3-4 OLB before?

Yes, we traded high picks for WR, why not for a difference maker? Besides, remember how good this team was with Merriman at his prime?

The team needs to sign him long term and do their due diligence to make sure he could actually fit in the 3-4. Those are first priorities. But if he could possibly do so, he'd be the pass rushing difference maker we've been screaming for since 2008

He would convert to the 3-4 in no time. Either way, I would be willing to take a chance on this guy...

Yes, we traded a high pick for a guy who was under contract for 2 years, not a hold out that wants to hit a big pay day. HUGE difference

English got about $14mil. Osi will cost closer to $50mil. HUGE difference

We traded a high pick for a guy who held out and demanded to get paid: Keenan McCardell

I don't think AJ would go after any "real" big names... The fireworks of free agents ended with Spikes. I hope I am wrong. :poop:

I am all for it. WE NEED proven pass rusher, English isn't lookin so hot, love Barnes but he's not a top tier guy. 95 and Osi would be a great combo and would vastly improve this defense.

He wanted Osi back in the original trade for Rivers. And I think we all know how AJ is about HIS guys...he gets them no matter what the costs may be; what it all comes down to is Osi STIL AJ's man?

He would play LB? There is a big difference between a 3-4 and 4-3 pass rusher...

He'd have to learn the responsibilites, this is something the coaches would have to determine was worth the problems or not..

MOST college players come from a 43 to a 34 so it happens every year...Both positions are pass rushing positions, just more to 34LB

Not a chance. He wants Charles Johnson type money, that's the kind of deal that will blow any chance of signing VJ or Garay beyond this season away. Maybe if we dropped Shaun Phillips or Kris Dielmans contract I could see it, but beyond that...

I'd love it, but I agree that the cost would probably be too high; to get him and to pay him long term.

I would trade Cason + 1st & 3rd round pick to the Giants for Osi.

Face it. This guy would be a major instant force and a guy you would want around for a while. Therefore I would be ok with making a significant sacrifice for him. The bottom line the Chargers will not. I'm surprised at the moves they have made so far. Kind of proud to tell you the truth. Maybe they are going all in? A true Charger fan can only hope. Enough seasons of so close!

    WAAAY to much.

I'd give up English + 2nd, and maybe a conditional 6th or something.

The problem is this is the kinda money that can prevent us from keeping VJ and/or Garay around after 2011.

Looks like someone doesn't want to win the superbowl. Vincent Jackson can screw off Rivers doesn't even need him. If AJ hadn't dished out ridiculous contracts to Castillo and Weddle this wouldn't be a problem.

Maybe he doesn't "need" VJ, but we're a better team with him than without. He's an impossible matchup problem, and the only real perimeter threat we have without Floyd.
