Since the Bolts and their next opponent (read victim) have played the Turds' D, I thought it would be interesting to see how each offense did against the Silver and Yak.

    Points
Bolts 27, Ravens 26 (They had a safety)

    Total Yards
    Chargers 312, Ravens 264

    Time of Possession
    Chargers 35:48, Ravens 32:01

    Average yards per play
    Chargers 5.1, Ravens 4.0

    Rushing
Chargers 194 Yards (4.0 per attempt), Ravens 138 (4.5 per attempt)

    Passing
Bolts 108 yards (9.8 Per Attempt), Ravens 143 Yards (3.6 Per Attepmt)

    Turnovers
    Chargers 0, Ravens 1

    QB Passer Rating
    Rivers 133, McNair 58

Even playing at home, the Ravens could not match our offensive output at Chokeland. I definitely think we get the edge in offense. If our defense can match Baltimore's, we should be 3-0 in two weeks.

The stat I couldn't believe was that Baltimore had 3.6 yards per pass attempt against Chokeland. That's pathetic. The Turds had 3.7 yards per attempt against B'more. If the Ravens can't throw it against us, how the heyll are they gonna win?

I'm still concerned about our run-blocking. The Raiders handled LT after they inserted Terdell Sands, and the Titans bottled him up pretty well too. And I think it's unrealistic to think that Rivers can continue to play at this level on the road against that hellacious Ravens 'D.

On the bright side, Ogden might miss the game. That would be huge in our favor, obviously.

Bottom line, I'm not expecting an easy "W".

The defenses look evenly matched against Oakland, all right, but the Charger offense is out of Oakland's league. It appears, from the stats of both teams initial games that the Chargers can shut down the Baltimore running game as effectively as in their first two times out. Raven offensive lineman have not faced anyone near as good as the Charger front seven. I may be missing something but it doesn't appear as if the Chargers have had to blitz to intensely yet. McNair's life may be about to get more difficult. Jamal Lewis got 70 yards on 19 carries against the Raiders. If the defenses are a wash, I like the Chargers chances and by more than a touchdown.

    Like i said earlier

    Tomlinson/Turner way better than Lewis/Anderson

    Gates/McCardell better than Heap/Mason

They are very inconsistent on offense, nothing tricky, nothin flashy just run. And we "Always stop the run"

Bye week will be a huge advantage!!!

Chargers wave bye to easy part of scheduleAssociated Press
    National Football League News Wire

SAN DIEGO -- After outscoring their first two opponents 67-7
and coming awfully close to pitching consecutive shutouts, the San
Diego Chargers know they've got to start preparing for reality.

The Chargers head into their bye week at 2-0 after another
suffocating defensive effort in a 40-7 win over Tennessee on
Sunday. San Diego came within 3:09 of consecutive shutouts for the
first time in franchise history before rookie Vince Young threw an
    18-yard touchdown pass.

"These first two wins are good and we've done a lot of good
things, but we can't get caught up in them," quarterback Philip
Rivers said Monday, sounding an awful lot like his coach, Marty
    Schottenheimer. "It's not a two-game season."

"I think we certainly have some tough opponents ahead," Rivers
said. "We don't need to look any further than Baltimore on the
road. Our first two games, both our wins have been similar. Their
defense has really played well, as has ours. It's a tough task on
the road, but that's what it's all about."

The Chargers' game at Baltimore on Oct. 1 will feature two of
the NFL's toughest defenses. After Sunday's games, Baltimore and
San Diego were ranked 1-2 in overall defense. Baltimore has allowed
304 yards in two games and the Chargers 347. The next-best defense
is Seattle's, which has allowed 507 yards.

While San Diego gets Sunday off, the Ravens will play at
    Cleveland.

"All they've got to do is go look at one reel of tape on
Baltimore and I don't need to say a word," Schottenheimer said.
"With all the positive numbers we've posted defensively,
Baltimore's ranked ahead of us in virtually every category on
defense. They're something, now. They're going to be a real test,
    there's no doubt."

Actually, of the 19 defensive categories tracked by the NFL,
Baltimore leads in seven while the Chargers, who won their opener
27-0 at Oakland, are No. 1 in six.......................................................................................

This game could end up like the Steelers / Jags game tonight... 9-0.

Of course, we do have an extra week to prepare, and the Ravens have a game to play Sunday. A lot can happen between now and then, what with injury potential, etc.

Looks like the bye week is actually at a great time for us.

Gives McCardell and Igor an extra week to heal from their injuries.

We may also get Krause back as an additional option too.

Problem with Krause is that in preseason PR had to hit him in the hands 5 times for every 2 catches he made. That's what it seemed like anyway.

Chargers | Team not satisfied with performance thus far
    Tue, 19 Sep 2006 07:15:52 -0700

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports the San Diego Chargers, despite outscoring opponents by a 67-7 margin through two games, know there is still room for improvement and are not yet ready to be called a great team. "You want to measure greatness, come talk to me after Baltimore, because you've got to realize who we played," FB Lorenzo Neal said. "Not to disrespect them or discredit our team, but it is what it is."

Chargers | Merriman misses practice Monday
    Tue, 19 Sep 2006 07:02:10 -0700

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports San Diego Chargers LB Shawne Merriman (nose) did not practice Monday, Sept. 18, but is expected to return later in the week. (in another thread/article I read his nose was broken and needed to be set.)

Cautious optimism... We certainly can beat the Ravens, and should, in my estimation, but they need to stay focused and prepare. Historically, they have not always done that.

I'm more afraid of the Steelers defence to be honest, and the Ravens offence doesnt impress me. These next two games are going to be a great chance for us to really see if our O-Line has improved at all.
