Stop with the "I'm a better fan than you" crap. Just about everybody in here lost their faith in Norv and that's OK!!!
When you're a fan, your suppose to express disappointment when things aren't going right and/or when someone isn't getting the job done.
You're also suppose to be happy when the job is getting done regardless of who gets the credit.

    THAT'S WHAT FANS DO!!!

The Marty haters wouldn't have been upset if we won a Super Bowl with him in charge. I'll be off the wall when we win a Super Bowl under anybody! Hell, if some how Gilbride found a way to do it... everybody in here would have been happy.

If Norv gets the job done... any dares?

I would have been happy if Marty won ONE playoff game.

And Gilbride is with the Giants. Last I checked, he ain't a HC.

I think all the Marty haters wanted was a win in the playoffs. Norv showed it was possible in his first year, hopefully he can take the team even farther this year.

I'm sure we can agree 8-8 and going deep in the playoffs (SB?) is better than going 14-2 and 1 and out in the playoffs.

I guess I should have been more specific...
"if some how Gilbride found a way to do it (while he was HC of the San Diego Chargers)... everybody in here would have been happy."

Well Norv is not off the hook if I had anything to say about it. Norv certainly is one of the most importnat factors that lead to us being 4-8 in the first place, regardless of how he performed in the next four games. I just don't rust him. Two slow starts and let's face it one little change in Buffalo and we'd be sitting here out of the race - that would fall on Norv and lead to his dismissal. I think a loss to The Colts should, but mark my words: will not be the nail in the coffin.

I've got the Bolts v. Pats last playoff meeting on tivo still, and to this day there are all these guys in uniforms with numbers on them with names on the back of their shirts making bonehead play after bonehead play, I still haven't seen a shirt that says shottenheimer on the back?

sure is we could go 16-0 with one coach and not win the SB and go 7-9 and make the playoffs and win it all i would love that coach more

Just to clarify, I don't think anyone in here faults any other fan for expressing disappointment. I have no beef with you or anyone else not liking Norv, hell he was my last choice to be hired.

The issue people have with your posts, at least my issue (I guess I shouldn't speak for others) is that you posted SO MUCH **** saying pretty much the exact same thing each time. At some point it was just tiresome and clogged the forum up with a bunch of extraneous crap. We got it, you hate Norv. Again, that's certainly your right, but hundreds of posts all saying the same thing serves no purpose other than to annoy people.

    You keep banging that drum.

Next year we win the division with a 6-10 record, go to the playoffs again ......... but in the mean time, we take steps backward to go forward.

Don't let anyone guilt you into posting anyway other than what you feel at the moment. If you feel chippy about it, then sound off. Make these fools think a chinese water torture is childs play.

Remember how every thread used to be about "Brees versus Flutie"?

Remember how everyone said ... "oh here we go again" ?

......and the same posters CRYING they could not "take it" anymore ?

So you never blame the coach for the team's play? The coach isn't playing...

I don't blame the coach as much as the players in that particular game, no question.

I think the point about Norv exists between the lines. Somewhere in the gray area between the "L"s and the "W"s. And that's why there's so much strife about Norv.

Anyone can point at the losses or the post season wins and say, he sucks or he's great. Hell, that's what sports pundits do. The look at the obvious and then draw earth shatteringly obvious conclusions from it.

What is strange about this team and Norv as the keeper of this team is the mood swings and the uncertainty they pose. Does Norv have control over this team? Do outside factors have more sway over this team's performance than its coach? Is the margin for error under Norv so small that luck has had more to do with peaking than dedication, execution and the groups will to win?

As long as this team swoons and then gets into the playoffs and wins one or more games, these question will be near impossible to answer. And Norv's short two-year tenure in San Diego doesn't help answer the riddle.

Still, IMO, something's fishy. And if the strategy of this club, as set by AJ, is to put together a competitive team every year so that sooner or later the ball bounces in their direction and they win a superbowl then the questions raised by Norv are indeed problematic. Edit: To put it simply... AJ's strategy is about consistency. Norv's reality has been about peaks and valleys.

Well, I think that a large part of these peaks and valleys actually is AJ's fault. When Marty was here we had discipline (at least on the field), and that's what many fans are complaining about. What a lot of them fail to see is that we also had veterans in the locker room, and that always is a major factor in on field discipline.

So it's not necessarily Norv's fault for the lack of discipline. He may be partially at fault, but I really think that since AJ got rid of the vocal veteran locker room leaders, and at the same time brought in Norv, the blame got mistakenly placed on Norv. Norv seems to be the type of coach that thinks "you're grown men, I shouldn't have to discipline grown men to the extent the media/fans want me to" as opposed to Marty's iron fist. The transition would have gone much smoother if we had kept LoNeal.

Of course, this is all speculation. But a valid point I think.

All we need to know is this formula:

Norv + Super Bowl title = B4Ls head exploding
