A followup report said Royal to the Bears was false.

I'm starting to see (non-Wikipedia) reports of him to the Bears now, so perhaps it did leak.

I'm not sure I want Mathews back (well, Ryan, I do want Ricardo back), I know he makes the offense better but I don't trust him to be healthy, so I'd rather they draft a RB in the third or fourth round

If Mathews leaves, Chargers will regret it.

That's only half of the equation.

If who they replace him with is good then they shouldn't regret anything.

I meant if they don't have a good plan. The current running backs won't be good enough

There's always the draft, and RB is one position where a rookie can come in and be successful right away.

Would of liked to keep Mathews, but if we did Donald Brown would have to go. I feel like Telesco is more reluctant to release Brown than to keep Mathews.

I don't take Telesco for the stubborn type to hold on to Brown just because he signed him.

But.... I could be wrong I suppose.

No your right, he did it with Derek Cox. But that was in terms of the contract not matching the production. At all. Cox was so bad he got benched.

Brown was brought in as insurance. Didn't prove out to work like that but I think Telesco still gives him one more shot. After all he was a part of the board that drafted him in the 1st in Indy too.

I do agree he could be a little more attached, but not to the level of liking him over Mathews (which isn't to say there isn't a chance we end up with Brown on the roster but not Mathews)

With the Chargers letting Mathews go, I feel thats the only real spot they can go at RB, We know most likely both will be there at 17, after that is anyone's guess.

I keep hearing from analysts like Daniel Jeremiah and others that NFL GM's are in love with Gordon and Gurley, It's hard not to picture Telesco when you hear that.

If not, I sure hope he has a plan in place for RB because another season with D. Brown can't happen

Wonderful isn't it? Replace an already super talented RB with a top 20 draft pick simply because he can't stay healthy.:(

Regardless of what happens with RM, I don't want a RB in the 1st round, not without trading down.

Why? Other than a better bpa being there rb has to be the choice. i hope your not thinking some random 5th round rb can be the type of hard running back to help us win playoff games(we haven't had a healthy back in the playoffs since L.T in 2006 and the early part of 2007. I don't want us playing around with talent if Gordon or Gurley are there and are bpa you take them and not hope some 2 rate talent might fall to you in 5th

I don't want a first round running back, good RBs can be found in latter rounds

Sad to see him leave, wish him well wherever he ends up, hopefully over with an NFC team if he eventually stays healthy! Hoping Gordon is there at 17..
