That will work for the PUP list then, right?

I believe so. Just depressing because he was one of my favorite guys to watch on this offense.

Eddie Royal better step the hell up.

I expect him to be back in the swing of things by November.. Hopefully by week 9.. So he'll miss about half the season..

Look for Royal and Spurlock to take his place..

Brown is the best WR on our team, so I would think you like him.

Royal will be Royal, it's not a matter of 'stepping up', it's a matter of staying healthy...which scares me.

Its ironic because I was 100% against signing Royal in large part because of Vincent Brown, I didn't want him to get pigeon holed on the depth chart when coaches were wowed by Royal's speed. Lucky he chose SD over DC.

Damn I was afraid it would turn out to be broken, it certainly looked broken after that tackle. The Bye is week 7 so if he comes back week 6 he be back to face the Broncos.

I wanted Royal half way through last year when I realized he was gonna be a FA this year. He was such a stud in '08, between him, Scheffler and Bmarsh it was hell for our D.

I don't think you'd have to worry about him swoopin on VB, the coaching staff knows that Floyd is a china doll; and Meachem isn't exactly made of stone either.

Sigh, can't believe I am doubting Phil like I am... I think I was taking him for granted every since that beastly '10 season when he was throwing to nobody's.

Well, this sucks. Nothing says fun times like a broken ankle. At least he'll be back for 1/2 of the regular season.

As long as AJ doesn't jump the gun and IR him like Sproles in 2006, or Jamal Williams in 2008.

He could easily be back to 100% by December and (fingers crossed) the playoffs.

This is just great, I'm sure the team will have all it's excuses lined up for the slow start waiting to happen.

Next guy up better get ready to go in or else it'll be a long season.

It irritates me when we have so much receiving talent, easily as much as a team like GB or NO, and yet every yard seems like a struggle.

I don't know if its Norv, our O-line, or if Rivers is actually regressing.

But to be fair, that was a perfect throw by Rivers that Brown dropped and Carr picked off. We could have and would have scored on that drive.

And if Rivers didn't under-throw the first INT to Meacham then that would have been a TD as well. Its pre-season don't over-react to either success or failure

I'd imagine that V Browns is a preliminary diagnosis meaning there could be ligament damage too, requiring surgery and lengthening the healing and rehab process?

Well Brown had surgery this morning according to Acee..

That's what I was thinking. People are so quick to say well its 6-8 weeks, we'll be back by week 6.. No.. He will still need to rehab, and strengthen his ankle. Also, he will need to whip in shape and get that explosion he usually gets from that ankle back. And also like you said, if there is ligament damage too. There is no time table either. There just saying 8 weeks in the normal time table for broken ankles.

I think he'll be back by sometime in November, hopefully.. And hopefully we will be in the mix for the playoffs and we'll get him back towards the end of the year.

I hope we don't IR him.. that will be stupid..

I reckon it'll be wait and see from here on out for the kid. Hate to see something like this happen to anyone but VB just seemed so excited for this season. He's got to be one bummed out dude today and I can't blame him.

From my spot in the stands, I saw the whole thing and it looked like the defender tried to grab his other leg or ankle and the spinning motion while being brought down twisted the ankle on the ground in an awkward angle... It did not look good at all.

Sorry to disappoint, but PUP is only for players who could not play AT ALL during training camp. As soon as you suit up for one practice, you can NOT go on the PUP list.

Brown will be dead weight on our 53 man roster until he comes back (if he comes back).

First: Ack! This is horrible news! Brown--in latter '11 and in this preseason--was looking like a future All-Pro.

Second: I know young athletes heal pretty fast, but it's hard for me to conceive
of recovering from a broken ankle--to the degree that you can cut and sprint
with the speed needed to beat NFL corners--in as little as 8 weeks.

(I know relatively slight fractures are often characterized by the term "breaks"...I sure hope that's the case here)

Trying to stay positive on this. I think it would be great for PR and the other WR to develop chemistry. PR and VB already have one year in so any work with new WR is a blessing this early in the PRE-season.
