    Nice!

    With a 5th rounder too, instead of a 2nd or 3rd round.

    That's even better! :icon_banana:

Even though it was a trade up. Not bad.

They just need to whip this guy's attitude into shape. He's the one character concern so far this draft.

I dont think he has character concerns, he's just dumb.

I was one of the more harsh critics on this guy but for 5th rounder I am pumped. Added more depth and beef inside.

I like it, got the best RB in draft, and strengthened the middle of our D. ILB, SS, NT.

No worries. Ron Rivera will kick his *** if he gives any bad attitude.

We gave up a 5th in NEXT year's draft to swap 5th rounders.

We still have the later 5th rounder this year which is a comp pick.

the other dline guys on our squad wont let this kid get away with giving up on plays - most of them have worked their asses off to get where they are - lots of competition and ron rivera doesn't seem like the type to put up with it either.

For those questioning the "value" of Matthews at #12, I think the Thomas pick in the 5th round makes up for it a bit. There were a lot of pundits calling for him to go in the 2nd.

Heck, the more I see of Mathews, the more I like the value of him at #12. He looks like he could run the ball 35 times in a game without missing a step--the kid's got a motor that reminds me of Ray Rice.

Sweet. Was wondering what was gonna happen to Cam when he made it out of round 3 last night.

Figured tho that he would be there for us now since everyone that went NT pretty much grabbed their guy regardless of mock rank.

Great draft and as usual we didnt lose any picks in trade-ups that wouldnt have been pure camp fodder and relesed. Or never even get signed to a contract

Mathews was a good pick, and the Chargers really didn't give up that much. Hell people wanted us to get Blunt in the 4th round. Some wanted us to pickup Dwyer in the first.

Donald Butler was another good pick. Second best ILB in this deep LB draft.

very good pick, addressed a need, presented excellent value, and got us someone who in all likelihood will become a starter for us.

Cam Thomas Q&A: "I'm just blessed"

University of North Carolina defensive tackle Cam Thomas is scheduled to meet with the New England Patriots as one of their 30 official predraft visits, according to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation.

The 6-foot-4, 330-pounder recorded 83 career tackles, nine for losses and 3 1/2 sacks for the Tar Heels.

At the NFL scouting combine, Thomas ran the 40-yard dash in 5.29 seconds and bench pressed 225 pounds 31 times. He also posted a 29-inch vertical leap.

Last season, he recorded 23 tackles 2 1/2 for losses, a blocked kick and three quarterback pressures.

National Football Post conducted a recent telephone interview with Thomas, touching on several topics.

What do you think of the draft process?

Thomas: "I'm enjoying everything about it. It's something new. I'm enjoying every moment of it. Most people don't even get this opportunity. I'm just blessed."

Do you pay much attention to the speculation about where or how high you might get drafted? Draft analysts have said you could go as high as the second or third round.

Thomas: "I'm never too caught up in that. I stay humble and work hard. Everything is good. I don't want to know what's going on. I just want to stay level-headed.

"My workouts are going lovely. Everything is going great. I'm just out here working hard. I go hard each and every day like it's my last one."

Do you think you're more suited for the 3-4 or 4-3 defense?

Thomas: "It doesn't matter. At Carolina, we played 3-4 and 4-3. I played both sides in both defenses, so it really doesn't matter to me. I just want to play the game."

How would you characterize your approach to football?

Thomas: "I love everything about football. What's not to love about football. I get to hit somebody and not think twice. Plus, there's the brotherhood, the fact that you can trust your brothers and get the job done together."

What kind of player will the team that drafts you get?

Thomas: “They will get a guy whol loves the game, a guy who ‘s enthusiastic and having a good time. I play the game with passion and love. I will bring that thunder. (and lightning) I will clog the gaps and penetrate a whole lot. I'll use my power."

How much did the Senior Bowl help your draft stock in your opinion?

Thomas: "I feel like it did help me a lot.. Each time you perform in front of scouts, it helps you out a lot. I just had fun with it, being the guy that I am. I'm a kid who has fun on the field when he's supposed to have fun. You don't have to be uptight."

How would you like to be remembered when you're done playing?

Thomas: "When I'm all done and I'm relaxing somewhere ojn an island with my family, I want people to say I brought chills and cold sweat. I want them to say, 'That boy, he was an animal on that field. He was a man in that game.' You want to have that respect. That's what life is all about."

Thomas in the 5th was where he should have gone based on his play. He stepped it up in the Senior Bowl but trust me - he took entire GAMES off in college. Go watch this past season's game against BC. He was barely there.

I hope the guy pans out, but don't expect the next Jamal. He's going to need some real serious attention & motivation.

Cam will be part of the rotation approach we've been employing on D. He'll be another big, strong body to rotate in. He'll help in obvious running situations. We're not looking for him to fill Jamal's shoes from a few years ago as THE anchor of the defense.
