Been talked about for some time now. Might comeback at a reduced price, but I'd rather move on entirely.

For depth reasons I hope he comes back, I'd hate to see AJ waste another high pick on DE.

he deff will.. he'll resign to hopefully a much reduced price from what he was getting this year which is what 4 million roughly? I'd give 1.5-2 and thats all if he takes less the better.. Martin will be the starter next year and it would be nice to rotate a guy likd Castillo in because he knows the system and hopefully Liuget steps it up this year..

Castillo also is the face of the Spanish speaking community in SD

Maybe he should've been working out instead.

Nice guys mean nothing to whether a team wins or loses. He just wasn't productive on the field. He has been non existent the past few years.

It made sense to sign him long term since he looked like a player on the upswing. But he clearly never lived up to his billing or his potential

Kinda like locking up Jyles Tucker after one good game against the Raiders. ;)

Only difference is Castillo had shown for his rookie season and limited in 2006 that he was up and coming. Tucker was one game only. And that was stupid.

Yup 100% agree. This is why I feel the management/ownership keeps screwing this thing up is that they are TOO CLOSE to the trees and can't see the forest. If I remember correctly most fans were complaining about this 1 game wonder signing.

Castillo was supposed to be Richard Seymour for us. Instead he was a very average starter. He played a lot of snaps when healthy, but he was never an impact player.

I was actually elated when he went down in week 1 because we would actually get to see how Martin was going to be as a starter.

No doubt he's a good solid guy and all but he did not produce on the field, where it matters. I'd take him back as a rotation type for a fraction of the big money he was on. Whether he comes back or not is open to question. We'll see.

Again, way to much money from AJ. He over spends on "potential" (Casitllo, Jyles Tucker) and balks at the real deal-VJ. I would like to see Castillo take a reduced pay and be in rotation.

If he doesn't get a good offer elsewhere, he might..... I wouldn't expect it though.

I don't see lots of teams shelling out a lot of cash for an underperforming, injury-prone 5 tech

Maybe not a lot, but more than the Chargers will..... that's the point. He also might do better in another system.

It doesn't bother me one bit whether Castillo comes back or not. Not many teams are going to sign Castillo other than Houston and Panthers. (Rivera and Wade). I really can't see a positive with him on the roster except MAYBE he would try and step up his game.

No tears shed here ................... nice guy, great from a PR point of view, excellent civic minded person etc etc ............

Unfortunately he was being paid a shitload of money to be a footballer first and foremost and NEVER reached the heights expected or his supposed potential.

Another one of AJ's fav's that was kept around far longer than he should've been and why we have regressed of late.

Good luck to the kid wherever he ends up, but I hope its not in San Diego.

The Ole....."Want their cake and eat it too syndrome" BLEW ...............

Too many forget its a business these days and not just entertainment for the fans pleasure.

We all have our favorites and rightly so, thats part of the attraction to sports in general, its all about being able to look past one's bias' and sentiments though and be a team player when the time calls for it.

Adios Castillo; too much risk not enough reward. If he could stay on the field it may have been a different story.
