SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Chargers cornerback Quentin Jammer will miss Sunday night's home game against the Indianapolis Colts because of a hamstring injury, meaning Antonio Cromartie will make his first pro start.

Cromartie has scored three touchdowns in the past two games, including setting an NFL record by returning a missed field goal 109 yards for a touchdown in a 35-17 loss at Minnesota last Sunday. In a 35-10 win against Houston two weeks ago, he scored on a 70-yard interception return and when he recovered an errant punt snap in the end zone.

Jammer injured his hamstring against Houston on Oct. 28 and aggravated it against the Vikings.

The team listed him as doubtful on Friday's injury report, but the cornerback said he won't be in uniform.

"I'm going to have to be smart about the injury," Jammer said. "I feel I could probably go but I felt like I could go last week and it ended up catching again and set me down for another week. I don't want that to keep happening.

"I'd rather just go ahead and get ready for Jacksonville than risk an injury that's going to put me out for two, three, maybe seven weeks."

Jammer, a six-year veteran, has started 72 consecutive regular-season games dating to the 2003 season opener.

"I don't really think about streaks of games," Jammer said. "The thing that keeps me going is my love for this game. That's the only thing that kept me playing injured and playing through some pain. I just love to be out there."

Backup linebacker Marques Harris (toe) was listed as questionable after missing all three practices this week. Pro Bowl center Nick Hardwick (foot) will miss his third consecutive game.

Also, Jacques Cesaire will start in place of defensive end Luis Castillo, who underwent ankle surgery on Monday. Castillo will miss at least six weeks.

We are sooo shallow at corner.
This means Paul Oliver, or Steve Gregory, or possibly Eric Weddle could end up being our nickel on Sunday.

We will win this game folks:tup: It's just too bad that I won't be there to bask in the glory.

Cro will have two picks, and at least one touchdown. He will also have a huge amount of return yards:yes:

True enough. I hope the boy does well but I think he is going to get an edumacation. Professor Manning is probably liking this situation and I am sure is a little pissed off right now.

We got the rushing record last week. Perhaps van Brocklins 554 yards passing record is within reach this week.

Or we step it up and shut down Manning for the worst passing performance of his career. Just saying, that's about as likely.

I hope everyone here is correct- this is going to be an interesting game, especially with some starters not able to go. Please get loud at the right times and shut up when appropriate at the game! I wish I could be there, but I'm too far...

My guess is our beloved Chargers will need as much help as possible- so do them a favor and be the best 12th man, in the NFL, this Sunday.

    That is all... :flag: :abq1:

Only if Teddy takes the ball and chain off the defensive ankle. Now, at last, we find out about Cromartie. If he does well, when Jammer comes back, DFlo will no longer be starting. I'm thinking they should man up in the nickle and send the other six. Let Weddle spot the the guy who might get loose and go to the rescue. Play them tight, with Weddle hanging back in the weeds. If we send the other guys, the RB will have to stay in and probably the tight end as well. That will cost me to fantasy points, but screw it. I want the win.

I'm hopping we can turn this into a positive for our D. Ted needs to open the barn gate and let the horses run wild on the Colts, bring the game to them and bring it hard all night long.:bolt:
