    Chambers is steping up

    By Kevin Acee

    August 5, 2009, 11:27 a.m.

Not enough can be said about how important Chris Chambers was to the Chargers' succes in 2007. Then injuries stalled him last season.

Up until Tuesday, Chambers had been having such a quiet camp that it was noticeable.

But some big plays Tuesday and this morning showed he's still a great ball-catcher.

    In other practice notes Wednesday:

Inside LB Kevin Burnett continues to constantly be around the ball. Thing is, Tim Dobbins is having a good camp too. My money is on them splitting time, with Dobbins playing in the base defense.

Shawne Merriman, Jamal Williams and Larry English were all on the side this morning. Merriman and Williams should practice tonight, as they were just getting some "veteran rest." English will likely sit again with a sight hamstring strain.

Buster Davis sat again as well.

This is great news. If our OL can be 75% of what they were in 2007, we are going to cause defense coordinators fits this year.

VJ, Legadu, Gates, LT, Sproles, Chambers. Good Lord, that there is some weaponry.

I would like to hijack this thread, and use it as an opportunity to highlight the hilarity of Craig Davis being injured before a regular season snap has happened.

Duly noted & .....uh ..... appreciated?

As for CC, I'm not surprised that he's performing. He performed for (and against :icon_evil:) us from the start. Injury is what kept him down last year.

All CC ever needed was some consistency from the guy throwing the ball.

Jackson and chambers were hurt alot early in thier careers. Could be this is just the norm for all wr's.

HOpe a.j. knows now. Never ever draft a wr with your first round pick. Get the studs in the first round that can and will contribute right away and get better every year. Any position other than wr really.

I have no idea why wr's are so flakey.
