I'm leaving in November and will be spending the next couple years sailing in Mexico. I was hoping some Bolt fans south of the border could tell me the best way to catch Charger games down there. I'll be living on a boat and will not have satellite/cable tv. I will have high speed internet from time to time. So here are some of my questions:

Are Charger games broadcast on TV in Mexico?

Do restaurants/bars in Mexico broadcast Charger games?

Are there reliable torrent/download sites for Chargers games?

Feel free to PM me if you don't want to respond publicly. I'm also happy to share my email address.

Prior to heading to Mexico, I'm going to make it down to the Bolts/Pats game. Hope to see you all there. :abq1::abq2:

Sounds like a blast. Why wouldn't you make the purchase and get yourself a Direct TV connection and ensure you have the game regardless where the winds take you? Are you Captain Ronn-ing on someone else's boat?

DirecTV requires either a phone or internet connection, especially if you subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket.

AFAIK, DirecTV doesn't market it's service in Mexico. So there's a chance it won't even work down there.

As for what he could do, I believe the NFL has a online viewing option. He could subscribe to that. IIRC, many of our fellow European bolt fans follow the team that way.

A friend of mine was on the USS Kitty Hawk as a civilian, and he just pulled into town. I hadn’t seen him in 2 years now. They Navy now have A Satellite System for its TV Reception. When they are under way the signal is constantly getting dropped, every time the boat bounces up and down with a wave, it loses its reception. Trying to watch a game live was very frustrating, every time the signal was lost, the picture would freeze. Then a couple of minutes later, once the signal was picked back up, the game would carry on. During the Super Bowl, and for the World Series Games, the Boat would not stop, but it was as close as you could come to just idling out there.

I looked into that. You have to be outside North America to view the games online through Yahoo/NFLpass. There is directv in Mexico, but the cost of getting a satellite that will track while you are sailing/anchoring is quite expensive. It's also someone else's boat, so I can't just install anything I want on it.

    Fair Winds and Following Seas!!!

Keep a thread up about your travels.

I don't know if you like to read sailing books but if you do check out

The Cruising books by Lin Pardey & Larry Pardey,

They sailed around the world in a 24 foot cutter called Seraffyn

    GOOD LUCK!!

I'd like to read about your travels as well.

Another good sailing book is "An Embarrassment of Mangoes". Also I have heard (but haven't read it yet) that "Don't Stop the Carnival" is excellent.

Have fun living the life. :icon_toast:

Actually there's SKY satellite which offers NFL sunday ticket, also, TV azteca (national network) broadcast a game each week, since the chargers are good they might show one or two games next year.

Internet is reliable and there are no goverment restrictions on it so you should be able to use all the normal torrent sites (I use some).

Most fans in Mexico are either cowboys or steelers fans so outside of Baja you'll have a hard time finding a bar that shows them.

BTW I don't think Caliente is everywhere in Mexico, it's just everwhere in Tijuana

    Buena Suerte

Thanks for all of the info. Sounds like bitorrent is going to be my best bet.

I actually have a slingbox. I just need to find someone willing to hook it up to their DVR so that I could watch Bolt games when I get somewhere with good internet.
