    the first team offense looked good, the first team defense so-so, if this team stays relatively healthy I see 8-8

    Put me down for a sad 5-11. :unsure:

    My super optimistic prediction
    @ KC - W
    vs JAX - L
    @ IND - W
    vs NO - W
    @ OAK - L
    vs DEN - W
    @ ATL - W
    @ DEN - L
    vs TEN - L
    vs MIA - W
    @HOU - L
    vs TB - W
    @ CAR - L
    vs OAK - W
    @ CLE - W
    vs KC - W

    10-6

    I could see us losing to NO, TB, or IND...but I'm giving us those wins because all 3 teams have bad defenses.
    I could also see us sweeping DEN if their QB situation sinks them.
    I could also see us getting swept by OAK and KC, easily.

    So really I see us winning somewhere between 0 and 16 games. I'm pretty confident in that. :coffee:

    The Chargies will earn double digits in the Loss column and gain single digits in the Win column. Put a gun to ChairCrusher's head, I'd say that it's gonna be a 6-10 season (after McCoy gets fired at 3-8 and the Whizzer takes over as temp HC).

    @KC- L
    JAC- W
    @IND- W
    NO- W
    @OAK- L
    DEN- L
    @ATL- W
    @DEN- L
    TEN- W
    MIA- W
    @HOU- L
    TB- W
    @CAR- L
    OAK- W
    @CLE- W
    KC- L

    I have us going 9-7, with a 1-5 record in the AFCW. If we can pull out some more wins against the division, I see the path for double digit wins. But when I watch Miller, Ware, and their backups terrorizing Newton, it's easy to envision them taking over games against our tackles. The Chiefs could potentially be more bearable in that regard without Houston, but we haven't seen it yet.

    I just can't buy into the Chiefs this year. They are a smoke and mirrors offense and a defense that relies heavily on pressure from both sides. They matriculate the ball, they don't attack, it's the kind of offense that needs A+ defense to win, anything less and they're an 7-9/8-8 team.

    I understand what you're saying, but Reid has always run this offense and it's always been effective. His worst years are league average. And it isn't like they don't have quality pieces. Their OL is solid enough, Smith is a good distributor, and they have a good WR1, good TE, and a deep stable of backs.

    If they were to disappoint, I would guess it would be because they can't make up for the losses of Houston and Smith. Those are big. By that DL looks really good-- capable of covering up a lot of issues. We will see. I hope they stumble, of course.

    Here's some positive national spin...... "Watchability Ratings" from NFL.com ;)

    Mystery teams

    10) San Diego Chargers

    11) Buffalo Bills

    12) Philadelphia Eagles

    There is a fine line between 6-10 and 10-6 in the NFL and these three teams could fall into either category. The Eagles boast one of the best front sevens in football, yet will be led by a rookie quarterback with a few quarters of preseason experience to his name. Despite all the injuries, Buffalo still has talent and a unique offense, but the pressure could become suffocating for the team's coaching staff if the Bills get off to a slow start.

    The Chargers are so far from a 4-12 roster. They rank high on this list in large part because a Philip Rivers push to the Super Bowl is one of the best potential NFL stories on the table this season. Travis Benjamin adds a deep threat to the offense to pair with Keenan Allen, while unknown second-year player Tyrell Williams looked like a factor in the preseason. Melvin Gordonis in position to make all that bust talk from last season look premature. San Diego has potential breakout playerson defense like Denzel Perryman and an underrated cornerback trio in Jason Verrett, Casey Hayward and Brandon Flowers. This team is going to be a lot of fun for anyone who chooses to pay attention.

    I really don't like or trust McCoy, but this team did go 19-15 over two seasons to start things off. Some feel the roster has regressed since then. I tend to think it's a little better, what with most of our good players being young and on the ascent. Whisenhunt being back is maybe the biggest reason for optimism that doesn't get mentioned in the media. I love that guy.

    All that to say, it's hard to argue that McCoy necessarily dooms us to a horrible record. It's been proven that the team can win despite him.

    They dealt with even more games lost due to injury in 2013 and 2014 than in 2015.

    That is one of the most optimistic things I've seen in the national media (re. the Chargers) all offseason. Yay! :D

    On the other hand, "...a Philip Rivers push to the Super Bowl is one of the best potential NFL stories..."
    would
    be a helluva story...but...uh...Charlotte's Web is also a helluva story, but also probably best filled under "unlikely as hell."

    Anyway, thanks NFL.com...I am adjusting my prediction up, to 5.25 & 10.75

    Aside from Rivers, Gates, and woodhead we're young and if players improve as they should we should also be better. I'm not as big a Wiz fan as many but less of a McCoy fan.

    Health is key cuz our depth is shallow
