So, somebody who knows the system? That pretty much rules out anyone not already on the team.

Think we owe it to this franchise and Rivers to go out, be aggressive and get a weapon.

As much as I love KA, this is his 4th season ending injury dating back to college. Get some weapons around Rivers, he deserves it. Now we are taking a risk on Josh Gordon, however, I think he is ready to play and committed to the game. With RGIII out for the season, Cleveland may look to blow it up and develop Corey Coleman and there three other draft picks from 2016 as well as Terrelle Pryor.

Possibly Tre McBride from Tennessee's practice squad, who was drafted by Whiz last year.

That would be the only other player who might qualify. Not exactly what you'd call casting a wide net. ;)

Think we have to be aggressive though. Find a trade partner.

Vincent Jackson could be had for a 6th/7th round pick :ninja:

We'll probably sign the guy who couldn't pick up the playbook, James Jones.

Pretty sure that comes with a sizable cap hit.

Fits the possession profile we need. He's 30, on the last year of his deal, and has a sizable cap hit-- all of which would keep the price tag down in terms of what we'd have to give Washington. He is currently their 3rd WR and 4th pass catching option. When Doctson comes back, he could be 4th and 5th respectively. So they may be willing to move him for a profit now.

We would have to work out an extension to make his cap hit fit. Not ideal. But nothing will be given our situation.

It's not likely. As a rule, NFL trades are rare. But there are some things going for him as a target that pique my interest.

    Just a few thoughts:

    1. Trading away draft picks puts an added premium on the remaining picks because fewer draft pick misses can be tolerated.

    2. Telesco is average at best in terms of getting talent with the draft picks he has had (hopefully nobody has an issue admitting at least that much), so creating a situation in which there is a premium not to miss on each pick just does not seem to be the way to go with this GM (and it is probably not the way to go with most GMs in most situations).

    3. I am certainly not wanting this team to go after a player with prior drug issues that is going to miss several additional games and needs to learn the system after that at the cost of a second round pick, without even reaching the additional consideration the Browns are reported to want. Forget that.

    4. I think we could see what is out there with the remaining free agents. I wonder if Marques Colston has anything left. Whoever we get is probably just going to be a "hold the fort" down type player. We aren't getting Larry Fitzgerald in his prime.

    5. I would also consider promoting Dom Williams from our practice squad. He has some potential and his development needs to be fast tracked in my view.

    6. In my view, the team is not a serious contender for a playoff spot this year, so there is no need to sacrifice draft picks now as if getting a WR that we could get a reasonable price were going to make a difference for us as far as being in the playoffs is concerned.

    7. Finally, we can't get too crazy at WR because we do not have tons of cap room available.

Don't think he fits the "profile" for the reason you just stated, he's 30 years old and comes with a $9.9 million cap hit. I don't think this team has any desire to extend a guy who will be 31 years old heading into 2017 and on the decline. Garcon has also had injury issues.

Telesco is familiar with Garcon from their Colts days, but that's about it. He's not a guy I can see us targeting.

We went over the cap when we signed Bosa, Rivers had to re-structure just to get us back in line.

We can't afford Garcon, no way, next option peeps.

Browns aren't getting a 2nd round pick, although they wanted one to start the season. There is a reason why multiple teams have offered 4th and 5th round picks but nothing higher. Not willing to take that high of a risk.

Now if you throw in a 4th that can turn into a 3rd, with incentives - such as % of snaps, yards, etc. then I'd be interested. I'd even throw another pick in 2018 if he re-signs as a RFA and plays a % of snaps, yards, etc.

If Josh Gordon stays on the field and produces, at 25 years old, you will not find that talent in the 3rd, 4th or 5th rounds at WR in 2017's draft. Shoot, you won't find that talent in the 1st or second rounds in the next couple of drafts. Also, the 2017 WR class is overrated and overhyped.

If you want a developmental piece, get Tre McBride.

If this organization is serious about winning, they'll trade for someone.

No problem, they can just get Joey to defer some of that signing bonus to next year. ;)

Can you just imagine what Todd Haley and Ken Whisenhunt will do with Josh Gordon, Keenan Allen, and Travis Benjamin in 2017?
