    Buffalo- by way of CBS

Another week, another close one. Continuing their tradition of not doing anything easy this season, the San Diego Chargers (10-2) jumped out to a 17-0 lead over the Buffalo Bills, only to spend the last 5 minutes of the game sweating it out as usual.
The Defense was put to the test in this game, and forced enough Buffalo mistakes to hold them off at the end.
This is a magnificent season so far, one I will always treasure- but there is MUCH work to be done yet- 7 more games to win in a row and we can all get little Vince Lombardi replica trophies with lightning bolts on them. 7 more... that's 4 regular season games, 2 plays off games, and one big enchilada... BELIEVE

San Diego got on the board first, with a Nate Kaeding 42 yard FG, following a drive to the Bills 24 yard line.

    7-0 San Diego

LaDainian Tomlinson then made all of Buffalo aware of his presence, ripping off a 51 yard TD run right through the heart of the Bills defense. And scoring his league leading 25th TD of the season.
After writing about the likes of the Leafless one, it's a pleasure to document LT's exploits.

10-0 Chargers end of the first quarter- it's too easy...

San Diego did very little during the second quarter, but Buffalo managed to do even less. On their last possession, San Diego scored on Phillip Rivers 11 yard bullet to Antonio Gates, who had a great day.

17-0 Chargers, and that's the half...

Buffalo came to play in the second half, forcing a Rivers fumble on San Diego's first possession of the second half. Buffalo's QB J.P. Losman cashed in the easy TD with a 5 yard toss to TE Mark Royal, cutting into the Chargers lead.

    17-7 Chargers

Mike Scifres then shanked a 29 yard punt after a 3 and out, giving Buffalo the opportunity to return the ball all the way to the Chargers 13 yard line. 4 plays later, RB Willis McGahee scored from 2 yards out.

17-14 Chargers end of the 3rd quarter let the sweating commence...

Needing a clock chewing drive to help ice this thin, San Diego marched 80 yards on 13 plays, converting every chance they needed to move the ball downfield. This was the drive that great teams have to make, when the game is on the line.
LT scored on the 2 yard sweep, giving the Chargers the cushion they needed.

    24-14 Chargers, game not over...

Buffalo survived a Clinton Hart interception, when Hart fumbled the ball without being touched on the return. Losman found Peerless Price with the nice alley-oop, drawing the Bills within 3 again.

    24-21- arrrgghhhh

Buffalo almost pulled off the onside kick, but San Diego recovered, and ran out the clock. With the Colts losing, the Chargers moved into a tie with them for first place in the AFC. What a beautiful sentence.

Denver comes to town Sunday, be there or be square...
