SAN DIEGO -- For some time now, Chargers fans haven't been shy in expressing just how restless they've become with Quentin Jammer.

It comes with the territory of being a fifth overall draft pick who held out the entire preseason as a rookie then intercepted just six passes in his first four seasons with the team.

But the Chargers feel differently, which they showed this week by giving Jammer a five-year contract extension that could keep him in San Diego through the 2012 season. Jammer will receive $13.5 million in bonuses, with the total new money in the contract potentially being worth $30 million. The deal comes with two years remaining on the contract Jammer signed as a rookie in 2002.
