OK- I was WRONG. I wrote Norv off- I was DONE for this season- after Jacksonville wiped us off the field last month, I decided it was time to start studying for baseball- and I predicted an 8-8 finish. But a funny thing happened along the way- the Chargers have not lost since!
I have never been gladder to be wrong- Norv may yet get it done.

There is no way NOT to win the division with this Chargers team-
Henceforth, my frustration at watching the best team in football slog through the schedule like a punch drunk palooka. If I have to write the Chargers off every year to get them going- I will make it a tradition!

Yesterday-DOMINATION- The Chargers were all they can be- crisp- fired up and unstoppable. 51 points. And it could have been 58.
That's what I expect from this team- week in and out- just like the Patriots. However, the Lions are not the Patriots, and the Chargers must show that they can make this kind of effort in New England next month.

Detroit never had a chance yesterday- down 27-0 before finally getting a TD, QB Jon Kitna was abused all day long, giving up the easiest TD in Chargers defense history on a batted ball by Shaun Phillips, who picked off his own deflection and rolled into the end zone with it. Awesome!

It was not just about the Offense yesterday- the Defense had its best game since last season, picking off 6 passes, and delivering at least 3 massive hits that had the crowd buzzing. All without Shawne Merriman.

A statement has been sent to the rest of the NFL-
WE are READY for YOU- BRING IT ON.
And it's about time. I really think Tennessee did the Chargers a favor last week in attempting to mug and humiliate the Bolts. For 3 quarters last week, the Titans beat the crap out of the Chargers- I was FUMING,
Late hits, Dog piling, Lots of smack-
We were their California Surfer Bitches - a burden all California teams must bear in Hillbilly-ville. But what happens to someone who surfs the wrong beach? They get their butts kicked- and that's what the Chargers did in the 4th quarter to a shocked Tennessee team and crowd, some BUTT KICKIN- it was BEAUTIFUL. My buddy had said at the beginning of the 4th quarter last week that here is where we find out if the Chargers are a playoff team or not. I am glad to say- PLAYOFFS!!!! You could see it in the eyes of the Tennessee players, who were gassed. Once the Chargers got back in the game- there was no stopping them. They FED off the crappy way they had been treated, and returned the favor. Championship teams are made of this kind of resiliency, now at least, we have a chance again...

Ladainian Tomlinson- NFL MVP 2007. Period.
Who means more to a team except Peyton Manning and Tom Brady? Not many... LT has once again put this team in position to make a run, and after helping the Chargers take a commanding lead yesterday, was allowed to take a breather. Scatback Darren Sproles showed that he has the right stuff NFL wise, making one spectacular play after another, the best of which was called back on an illegal man down field. San Diego set another team record- with both LT and Sproles busting 100 yards on the ground. Antonio Cromartie also picked off his league leading and team record 10th pass of the year. I could have sworn former Chargers all pro DB Gil Byrd had 9 one year...

This Charger team is fully loaded, and Norv finally seems to be in sync with his players. It took longer than any of us would have liked, but the Division title is ours once again- 2007 AFC WEST CHAMPS!!!
Nothing less was acceptable this year.

Philip Rivers made the plays he needed to in the first half, and also was allowed the rest of the afternoon off, resting his sprained knee while getting backup QB Billy Volek some much needed reps. Depth is EVERYTHING in the NFL, and love or hate AJ Smith, one has to admit- this team is well stocked.
Bobby Beathard never assembled this much talent on one team, and AJ keeps his draft choices as well.
Eric Bienemy? Remember him? Beathard's scatback?
Sproles whips Bienemy in every facet of the game- and we carried him for 5 seasons. A team is only as good as the last man on the squad. Ask the Raiders...

The Chargers face Denver this coming Monday night- with Playoff seeding still to be settled, the Chargers will have to go all out- so get your self out to the Q -SAVE THE Q- we have work to do,
MISSION 2008 SUPERBOWL!!! Accept no less, it's our turn...
