"I've been on the other side of the fence,'' said Dielman, the Chargers' left guard. "That's why I appreciate everything a lot more."

More of Dielman has been everything the Chargers hoped for when they inserted him into last year's starting lineup. Their patience spent with the ups-and-downs (scale and otherwise) of Toniu Fonoti, the Bolts turned to Dielman.

That's when Dielman's world officially turned upside down.

"I was still learning the position,'' Dielman said.

That was his response then; it remains so today.
