    http://www.chargers.com/news/articl...chedule-/d509ee1b-c38c-43e4-b857-6ccc01c67727

Three weeks ago, the Chargers learned they’d open their season in Oakland. The remainder of their 2009 schedule was released Tuesday, which revealed the home opener against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2 (Sept. 20), three of the team’s first five games on national television, contests against three of the four teams who appeared in 2008 conference title games and a Christmas Day game for the first time in team history.
In total, the Chargers play four nationally-televised games, including three on the road. They’ll face six teams who made the playoffs in 2008, including visits from Miami, Philadelphia and Baltimore.
“When the schedule comes out, it always brings out the excitement that the season is getting closer,” Head Coach Norv Turner said. “Every NFL schedule is challenging. We face a lot of teams that made the playoffs last year, a lot of teams that finished above .500. We’ve got a great home schedule that our fans will be excited about.”
That home slate begins with Baltimore in Week 2, and a week later the Chargers host the defending AFC East Champion Miami Dolphins in Week 3.
“We have an exciting schedule this year and it’s going to be great for the fans,” Chargers President Dean Spanos said. “Our first home game is against the Ravens, who I think are an outstanding team. The next week it will be good to get a shot at the Dolphins after what they did to us a year ago. So that will be an exciting game as well.”
Week 4 sends San Diego on their first of three trips to the East Coast. The Chargers will play the defending Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers in a rematch from January’s Divisional Playoff game. NBC’s Sunday Night Football will broadcast the game to a national TV audience at 5:20 PDT.
The Chargers’ bye comes in Week 5, followed by three-consecutive AFC West contests. The stretch begins with a home game against Denver on Oct. 19 on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. San Diego travels to Kansas City in Week 7 and returns to Qualcomm Stadium on Nov. 1 against the Raiders.
In Week 9, the Chargers visit the defending NFC East Champion New York Giants for the first time since the infamous “Snowball Game” in 1995. The contest will be part of a CBS national doubleheader with kickoff scheduled for 1:15 PST A week later, the Philadelphia Eagles make their first trip to San Diego since 1998, a game the Chargers won, 13-10.
The last two weeks of November wrap up AFC West play for the Chargers. Turner’s team plays in Denver on Nov. 22 and returns home to face the Chiefs on (Nov. 29).
The Chargers are 9-0 in December under Turner, and they’ll kick off the final month of the season with back-to-back trips to Cleveland (Week 13) and Dallas, where they’ll play in the Cowboys’ new stadium in Week 14. On Dec. 20, the Cincinnati Bengals visit Qualcomm Stadium.
Throughout their history, the Chargers have played on Christmas Eve several times, but 2009 brings the team’s first Christmas Day contest. The Bolts face a shortened week when they will play the Tennessee Titans in Nashville on Friday, Dec. 25 in nationally-televised NFL Network game. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 Pacific.
The Chargers wrap up their schedule at home against Washington on January 3. The last time the Redskins visited San Diego came in the 2001 season opener. That day, LaDainian Tomlinson[IMG] rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns in his NFL debut.

It's a tough schedule but surprisingly few 10am games and even less back to back east coast trips.

It's a damn tough schedule but I'm surprised, it's not horribly unfair

A schedule this early means nothing in terms of outcome. It's good for lining up your viewing options with your vacation calendar though. Every year it's proven to be irrelevant by the time the playoffs start.

Can't wait to see what ol Miserable4Life will have to say about tho'.

    I Like:

    Only 1 10:00 start

Get Giants and Pitt B4 it snows

    Don't Like:

    December is brutal

    Wish the Bye was later

But all in all - I am very excited about the fact the away games are not stacked up together

Another Like - No Thursday Night games

I'd rather play the dolphinsand titans (the other first place teams) than what the donks have to do, play the pats and colts (the second place teams)

This schedule is tough as hell.

What I like is that our Bye week is early this year, the Bolts tend to turn it around after the bye week.

I like that besides the Cleveland/Dallas games - we're pretty much home every other week. Plus the only 10am game we have isn't even on the East Coast it's in KC - it'll be an early avo game there so it'll be during the warmest part of the day in frigid KC.

We need to get off to a good start early though - we won't have an NFC game until November 8th at the Giants and we wrap up division play before December even begins.

WE GET TO WATCH OUR BOYS PLAY ON CHRISTMAS DAY!!!! What an awesome present!!!!

I can't wait to go home and watch the NFL Network "schedule special"

Here is how I see the season playing out. We go 10 and 6. I am not real sure on the Ravens game except it is the second game of the year and of lately the Chargers are notoriously slow starters.

That was the part that pissed me off most. Tennessee was going to be one of my road games this year, but not now.

I don't know mat, 3 of our first 5 games nationallly televised, if we need to turn it around at the bye opinions of this team will be in the toilet. I'm tired of early byes, give me a nice week9 bye.

looke like we play all3 div opponents in a row right after the bye. be nice to come out of it strong and sweep those 3.

tough schedule, but they sure as hell should be battle tested at the end of it.

Good thing we are 9-0 in december with Norv as the coach. Dallas folds after thanksgiving, and Cleveland isn't really a playoff team.

I like the fact that only one game is at 1pm ET.

Our guys can actually start the game wide awake, and who knows they might just realize that points scored before halftime count as well!

It will be interesting to see how their defense holds up without Haynesworth.

Obviously we don't have to go ape to win the division but, assuming we learnt our lesson, we could easily put away the division and have good standing with a 10-6 record (very manageable).

And jeez trumpie, go take some valium

What are you smoking? How many bad calls, fluke's and one point losses are you going to overlook? Yet the team never gave up and fought hard to the end with everyone selling them out. They needed a little luck but never said DIE. What kind of confidence do you think that builds for a team that is only getting better. Please...stop halucinating Dolphins,Browns and cincy are going down for sure.
