    A career day by tight end Antonio Gates fueled the Chargers' offense and helped the Bolts earn a 28-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Qualcomm Stadium Sunday afternoon.

    Gates caught 10 passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns as the Chargers evened their record at 4-4 on the season. All figures were career highs for the third-year tight end.

    "We came in with the intention of getting Gates the ball today," Chargers Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer said. "We were anxious to see what they would try to do [to him in coverage]. But Antonio Gates is growing as an accomplished NFL tight end and receiver. It's fun to watch him progress, because it's obvious he's going places that he's really never been before.'</blockquote>
