UNACCEPTABLE. You may have noticed a delay in my reporting on this "game", which is because I have been catatonic for Monday, Tuesday and WED. Why do the Chargers save their worst game for the Patriots?
Wile E Coyote plays better against the Roadrunner, than what the
Chargers (1-1) showed all my relatives and a national TV audience again.

I'm from NE originally, about a thousand centuries ago, and I delight in
San Diego beating Boston teams. 38-14 Patriots is not what I had in mind...

To say this game left me unsatisfied is an understatement so gigantic that it's like a black hole. I see little Belichick's with video cameras floating around my skull, taking illegal video of my pain. Once again, its my uncle intoning, "Come back when ya got a real team kid", either on the phone, or in my head. When we smoked those Cheatriots up there in 2004 40 to what ever, it was as if I had no relatives at all. What happened Grandfather? Silence. What happened Uncle W? Nada...

Needless to say, the laughter can be heard 3000 miles away this time, without a phone. WE EMBARRASED OURSELVES- DAMMIT- ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
No more talk, no more super bowl predictions, no more looking at the ref for help. Lets get a freakin first down in the first quarter.
Are we Men or Mice? Or Women or Womice?... Or Chargers or Charmice?

I now will attempt to describe the football carnage as best as I can, I might need a time out while doing this.

New England took the opening kickoff, ripped through the D in 6 plays and put 7 quick points on the board. Quick as in I just sat down.
Brady to Watson 7 yards, completely uncovered, #$%^...

7-0 Cheatriots- who looked like the veteran 3 time super bowl champs that they are, and the Chargers looked exactly as they did in the first half last week, confused, unfocused, and surprised by the other team actually trying to beat them.
I have been told by people who know more than I that this is not Norv Turners fault, and that its on the players. So I will not start saying I miss Marty just yet... but the clock is ticking

The Chargers first possession was over like a snap of the fingers. Phillip Rivers did not see LB Roosevelt Colvin lurking between LT and Jackson, and was promptly picked off. Laughter in the stands, hell, I'd be laughing too, if it weren't costing us 42 bucks for a pizza at the Q now.

Brady and Randy Moss wasted no time cashing this gift in, following the Chargers own formula of creating quick turnovers, and putting the road team in a 14-0 hole. A 23-yard strike to Moss, who looked just fine when thrown to.
Why did AJ let Randy Moss go to NE? Moss is exactly what the Chargers really needed...
    14-0 Patriots. Still have time...

So the finest offense in football takes the field, down 14, lets see some magic right? Uhhh. No. Here is the actual play by play from this DRIVE-
    1-10-SD 31 " " "  (11:18) PENALTY on SD-79-M.Goff, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at SD 31 - No Play.
    1-15-SD 26 " " "  (11:18) 21-L.Tomlinson right guard to SD 28 for 2 yards (94-T.Warren, 50-M.Vrabel). SD-70-S.Olivea was injured during the play. His return is Questionable.
    2-13-SD 28 " " "  (10:50) (Shotgun) 17-P.Rivers pass incomplete deep right to 84-C.Davis (21-R.Gay).
    3-13-SD 28 " " "  (10:44) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 17-P.Rivers pass short left to 85-A.Gates to SD 39 for 11 yards (21-R.Gay).
    4-2-SD 39 " " "  (10:04) 5-M.Scifres punts 49 yards to NE 12, Center-50-D.Binn. 83-W.Welker to NE 25 for 13 yards (51-T.Dobbins).
    Smooth as silk...

    This is the well-oiled machine?

Add a Rivers fumble after getting finally getting a drive going late in the quarter, and its Coyote time... call Acme...

The first quarter ended 14-0, that's 2 games in a row without scoring early...
Have you guys even MET? LT, meet Phil Rivers, a helluva guy...

The Pats put 3 more on the board- 17-0 N.E." "  At this point, I was making gurgling sounds. This is not happening. Yes it is, its Mike Riley revisited.

3 and out for SD. The greatest show on Earth. More like a kindergarten production of Annie... Tomorrow is ALWAYS a day away...
    Norv, the clock is ticking...

The D actually stopped Brady on the next drive, forcing a punt.
Given a new set of downs, PR found NE linebacker Adailus
Thomas, who picked Rivers off and rumbled 65 yards for a backbreaking TD,
24-0 Patriots. I am now laying facedown on the floor; drool coming from my mouth, a primal scream locked up in my brain. Why always against the Patriots? Why do the Chargers play so freakin bad against these guys?
It's obviously beyond my comprehension at this point.

Shell-shocked, the offense was done for the first half.
24-0 Even Michaels and madden feel sorry for us. I need an ice cream...

The second half showed the Bolts finally getting their act together, scoring 14 meaningless points. Rivers found Lorenzo Neal with a 1-yard toss, finally getting the Bolts off the schneid.
    24-7 Patriots

Randy Moss hauled in another TD pass on the Pats next drive, looking like he never played a down in Oakland.
Lets see, we get rid of McCardell, the Pats ADD Moss... do the math...
    31-7 game over...

San Diego actually tried make it a game again, driving into New England territory, with Mr. Gates hauling in a 12 yard TD pass. That's better lads...
    31-14 Dare to dream? Nah...

NE shut the door after Kassim Osgood forced a fumble on a return. NE sacked Rivers twice, and PR had no chance on 3rd and 30. Said Belichick about this key series-"That was a key stop, we got negative yardage, took them out of even field-goal range and got our energy back."
Too little too late for the Bolts

Sammie Morris scored from close in, and you have a final score of 38-14.
Revenge? All we got was beat up. Still miles to go before this team is as good as the Patriots...

Now comes Green Bay, and a fired up Packer team rallying under Brett Favre. THERE ARE NO EASY GAMES IN THE NFL.
    See you soon...
