    EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. Quarterbacks: F
Philip Rivers gets his first failing grade. Either something’s wrong with him or something’s wrong with the entire passing game.
    Running backs: C-minus
Either Ryan Mathews is going to be the guy or he isn’t going to be the guy.
    Receivers: F-plus
A lot of them spent a lot of time not getting open. On one foot as a bit player Antonio Gates was by far their most effective pass catcher.
    Offensive line: B
The big guys were not the reason for this loss.
    Defensive line: F-plus
Couldn’t pressure the passer, couldn’t stop the running of the magnificent Shonn Greene. Not a good combination.
    Linebackers: D-minus
Couldn’t pressure the passer, couldn’t stop the run. Donald Butler’s great play saves the group from failure.
    Secondary: F
Antoine Cason looked as though he hadn’t played since kindergarten. Jailbird Plaxico Burress? Jammer whiffed on a Greene run and celebrated after a PI penalty.
    Special teams: C
They’re not headed for Canton but at least this is one area where there are signs of improvement (except for Patrick Crayton's decision to catch a punt at his 6-yard line).
    Coaching: F
Thirteen penalties for 95 yards (six offside/neutral zone infractions), 3 pass interference penalties. No second-half points. One of Norv Turner’s worse hours.
Next opportunity (at Kansas City): F
The Chargers are not playing good football. What makes us think they should in K.C.?

If this were the 4th grade they'd be getting left back. Pathetic.
Can we send some pressure from the corners to get to the QB.

Shonn Greene looks like AP against us.

Officiating is what kept NJ in the game. F the zebras! Even the announcers agreed that some of those offsides penalties were initiated by the other guys. Not that it mattered, Bolts played like crap in the second half, like they switched uniforms or something.

"Jammer celebrated after a PI penalty" umm, because it was a horseshit call and he made a good play.

Give the zebras an "F+" for not seeing that they missed what could have been a tough game with a different outcome.

It's all exaggerated for effect. Like most of what people write here in some emotional state. Except that toad is sold off as an expert... (when he is anything but).

The U-T, staff & forum members alike, is known for many things but truth isn't one of them.

Hyperbole, classless insults, & pissy schoolgirl drama is there to be had in spades.

Chargers deserved to lose that one after the dismal play int he second half. That being said, why don't the refs get fined for being horrendously bad at their job? Everyone wants to talk about the Jammer PI (Which was bullshit) but the worst call was giving Dirty Sanchez the first down on the run and moving the sticks before Norv could throw the red flag out to challenge the spot. The line judge showed Sanchez short by 1/2 a yard, but the Ref over ruled him when GQ got up and pointed towards a first down. Ref just looked and said if Sanchez is calling it, must be right. Absolutely ridiculous. Almost as bad as the Hercules call. Still, the Jets shouldnt have even been in the same hemisphere as the Chargers at that point in the game.

That play was the worst! The fact that the linesman was standing marking it behind the line, and the Ref ran up and quickly signaled first down without seeing the ball made it look like something was afoot. That was perhaps the most questionable call I have seen, I would have thought that if it went for us as well.

Yep, some of the others looked like bad calls, that one looked like money exchanged hands.
