We have how many safeties? Two? Weddle and Hart, right? After that it's a third-fourth string corner converted to a safety....

The 2nd best QB in the Draft is Joe Flacco from delaware,Brain Brohm is a bust him and Chris Reddman both played in that louisville offense which doesn't take much skill to run.

AJ wants to trade down I imagine to hit more needs then he could with one pick even if we don't necessarily have that many pressing needs.

And if what I've been hearing that Jonathan Stewart could be there at 27 along with the three 2nd tier QBs, AJ's phone could be ringing off the hook with teams interested in trading up.

By the time the Chargers go on the clock, there will undoubtedly be a couple of players that have "slid down the draft" whom Kiper and his ilk will be whining about - and several of us clamoring for....

AJ wants to do the best thing for the Chargers - and when the time comes he will look at who is still available on their (the Chargers staff's) board, listen to any trade offers that have come in, (I predict there will be multiple packages offered), then come to a decision as to which way to jump.

I don't believe AJ's thinking is in any way, shape or form centered on trading down - more on making sure the board is "right" and staying focused as "decision time" approaches.

AJ is holding some cards if guys that are a big part of other team's needs are there at 27. There are several GMs who would say, "I couldn't believe he was still there", and offer us something more than worth while. Our advantage and their problem is that AJ can spot the Cromarties, the Weddles and others with his brain, whereas the other guys think with their gonads.

AJ doesn't think with his gonads, but he does employ them when making deals. He's hard-nosed about bargaining. I think it's looking more & more like we'll trade down & get someone like Sam Baker, Carl Nicks, Anthony Collins, or Duane Brown in the second or even third.

    Who gives a shiit??!!

    :icon_shrug:

No doubt, I like like the sound of AJ trading out of the 1st round to get an extra pick.

    Trade with ATL.

    Get their 37th pick (2nd Rnd #6) and 68th pick (3rd Rnd #5)

It is a bit in our favor when you add the draft values(+100), but not unreasonable for moving into the 1st.

Or trade it for their first rounder next year, and maybe another low rounder this year. Just throwing it out there:icon_shrug:

The thing is, everybody would like to trade down, but it isn't always that easy. We just have to hope that the right player has fallen down to us, and an impatient team won't wait any longer.

it always takes two to tango
the absolute worst case scenario is if:

Stewart's either gone or there's no interest
No one is interested in trading up for a QB
ALL offensive linemen are off the board who are first rounders
Kenny Phillips is off the board
