The San Diego Chargers shook up their scouting department Wednesday, highlighted by the hiring of Louis Clark as the team's new director of pro personnel.

A long-time acquaintance of Chargers general manager Tom Telesco, Clark previously held the same position with the Eagles and Jaguars. He started his scouting career with Jacksonville in 1997, eventually earning the director of pro personnel title in 2011 before going to Philadelphia in 2013.

A 10th-round pick by the Seahawks in 1987, Clark played in the NFL for seven seasons before spending time as a running backs and special teams coach for the Amsterdam Admirals in 1996 and served as an assistant receivers coach for the Rams during training camp that year.

The Chargers changed things up throughout the pro and college scouting departments. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune's Michael Gehlken, the team parted ways with Bryan Cox and Paul Sanski. Additionally, the Chargers announced that five other personnel execs are taking on different roles.

    - Regis Eller, pro scout

    -Travis Lash, combine area scout

    -Patrick Ryan, area scout

    -Tyler Lyon, college scouting coordinator

    -Chris Hobbs, area scout

Riiiight, it is the scouting that is to blame for the lack of talent. SMH....

It is impressive that the team has made so many changes without making the one change that would actually help--firing Telesco.

The conspiracy theorists amongst us would suggest that there was likely some pre-draft tension and fracturing in the front office. Maybe not everyone agreed on Bosa or the stand fast at three strategy.

Let's see now, the way I read those years, as a head of pro personnel, Clark oversaw the un-struction/destruction of the worst team in football in Jacksonville for a number of years before moving on to Philadelphia to help Coach Kelley leave them like Sherman left Atlanta. All in all - a solid Charger move.
