After being almost counted out with back-to-back losses to Pittsburgh and Denver, falling to 2-3 and 3.5 games behind Denver, the Chargers can rebound and take the division by storm, and possibly the #2 AFC playoff seed.

Currently, the team sits at 6-3 and virtually tied with Denver for the AFC West lead. Denver has the head-to-head advantage right now.

If San Diego beats Denver in Mile High next week, the head-to-head is a wash and the Chargers will own the better division record. Then the next two games are versus the lowly Chiefs and even worse Browns.

That's a 9-3 record waiting for them to take it. It's almost low-hanging fruit now that the Broncos are reeling from 3 straight losses. Anyone care to make it 4?

Then the Chargers will be ready to take on their final 4 opponents, in December and January.

Oh, and Philip Rivers is a perfect 14-0 in the month of December so far.

    13-3 anyone?

We have some tough games in Dec. coming, having to go to Dallas (they don't really scare me, but anytime we leave the Q the game gets tougher) and Tenn (who is looking much better as of late) and a very good Bengals team here in SD.

Let's worry about beating the **** out of Denver first and securing 1st.

Lets not jinx anything here. We have a long way to go and plenty left to prove.

And, while its not worth talking about tie-breakers too much yet, we will have the same division record the Broncos if we beat them. They will hold a slight advantage because so far one of their losses has been against the NFC (but they would have 4 losses to our 3 anyway).

The only thing that we're on the cusp of right now is taking over the AFCW lead from Denver & that's still a game to be played.

If we get past the Titans with only 3 losses, then we're on the cusp of 13-3.

    13-3, 11-5, 10-6...

All the same so long as you earn the right to try for the big dance...

The AFC West, and perhaps the Playoffs altogether, is going to come down to whichever team can avoid a fifth loss. The Chargers have a tough home game against the surprise of the season Bengals, a game in Dallas, and a Christmas game against the dead-in-the-water Titans which are actually quite talented but coming up super unlucky and having serious troubles on defense. I'm saying 12-4 cause Cincinnati, still in charge of the AFC North, will be close but their defense will have an answer when it counts.

The Broncos have the stout New York Giants defense, the inconsistent Eagles, the proficient Colts, and the rising Chargers. Besides, they lost to the Redskins so really, they're not very consistent themselves and it isn't hard to beat Denver when they're reeling from a losing streak like this. They'll get the fifth loss to the Colts or Giants and we nail the fourth on them this Sunday.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Don't get too low with the losses, or too high with the wins. I said 11-5 most likely, or 10-6 or 12-4 were not improbable.

    I'm sticking with that.

That's so funny man because 2 of my fellow Bolt Brothers said the same exact thing and told them I don't want to look that far ahead. I agree with you guys, lets just beat the crap out of the Donkeys this Sunday to take the AFC West lead then we can talk about it.

IF we beat the broncos, we can add three wins VERY LIKELY vs Chiefs/Browns/Cowboys

but the next month involve games against the Bengals, at the Titans and ending it here against the redskins. That isn't that easy.

No, we'll have the better division record.

Broncos are 2-0 in the division, we are 3-1 (beat Oakland twice, KC once, lost to Denver).

We beat Denver next week, they will be 2-1, and we'll be 4-1 in the division. Make that 5-1 after beating up KC again the following week.

Unless SD beats Denver next weekend, the rest doesn't mean jack.

Now if SD ends up with the same record at the end of the year.

If SD beats Denver next week, then each will have 1 loss in the division. I don't see Denver losing to KC or Oakland, so we end up in a tie there as well. H2H and Division.

    Next is common opponents.

Both lost to Pit and Balt.

    Games Denver won:
We need to beat Dal(away, but what Dallas team shows up), Clev(yes), Cincy(toughest game left on our schedule, but @ home), Was(yes).

    Games SD won:
We need them to lose to NYG and Phil.
