First, with the exception of the Colts win (fluke, IMO) and Jags (23rd??) 3 of the 5 Chargers losses so far have been to teams with defenses ranking in the top 12.

Second, the next three opponents all have defenses ranking in the top 10!

If this team is going to win and make a playoff push, it will be determined in the next three games. None of the next three opponents are offensive juggernauts, but we know how streaky our defense can be. They have the ability to make Kyle Boller and Brody Croyle look like bonafide ProBowlers.

So this playoff push is all on the offense in my opinion. If they don't generate touchdowns and finally execute clock chewing drives... this team is going to embarrass itself and return to laughingstock status.

From what I've seen I have no reason to believe they can handle the pressure and I think the implosion is imminent. My fellow Bolt Heads.... I label this year's Chargers team:
    PRETENDERS:icon_sad:

Oh yes, I'm the great, pretender... Pretending that I'm doing well...

I fear that you are right, although when you look at the remainder of the schedule, there are alot of bad teams left on the docket. But Playoffs or not, we are still pretending this year.

    Pretenders, pure and simple.

The only time this year this team has shown anything was against the broncos...

I just don't know anymore about this Jekyll and Hyde team. If they win the next 2, then I say contender.

    Contenders.

On a side note: the Christmas Eve game against the Broncos appears it will have meaning whereas, if we were running away with the division that same game would be BORING and fans would be fuc-king off in the stands. I sort of like the fact we will need to fight for every inch so that way we can say we earned it the hard way. X-Mas eve is shaping up to be a doozie.

The fillet of mule tool lovers are popping off at the mouth how they are the rightful divisional champs and the throne is theirs.

    Fuc them in the asss.

Last Christmas, Philip Rivers beat the Seahawks in the waning moments of that game to give us all mass X-Mas wood.

    Deja vu ?

    Bring it. :bolt:

Man, I can not even tell you how hyped I am for that game. I don't care if we are out of the playoffs by that point or whatever, that game is going to be hot. I never been to a mnf game. Last time I went to a game on christmas eve was when they were 1-15 and we left after the 3rd for dinner:lol: Not this year! My family is all going down and we are going to tailgate all day and then kick the **** out of the broncos and win the division, well I hope it goes that way. And last time I was going to a mnf game it got moved to Az:tdown: Nothing better happen this time.

And this years team is neither a contender or pretender, they are more like the bengals than anything else...:icon_sad:

I should know better... but I'll ask anyway...

So you think the offense is just going to magically turn it all around and suddenly "click" on all cylinders like they were at season's end last year?

Sorry T-man... I just don't see it happening. I think they're completely lost. I say the finger pointing starts after the loss to Tennessee.

If Norv runs it up the middle to

    and

then there is no hope for this team.

If I see "L. Tomlinson run up the middle for 1 yard gain" more than three times this game then Norv really is an idiot. If not, then maybe the MTL and Trumpie conspiracy theory is true and Norv and AJ are playing tricks those dirty baztards :icon_twisted:

It would be almost difficult to hem in and neutralize the very good talent the chargers have now. BUt our coaching staff seems to have managed that.

Lets pray the coaches wake up or see god or something and lift off the millstones they've put on the team and let them attack and start winning

Here's a question for both Norv and CAm who seen to love running head on into the center of stacked d-lines. Why not do a lombardi instead. Run off tackle Pull a guard and use our very good fullback to make a hole but run just off tackle. YOu'd think that would satisfy their need for hard nosed running football and most important we might get 5 or more yards out of it.

Yah, I'm fairly sick about hearing for the call of Volek. PR has more starts than him, and has had more NFL play time, over all. The kid is in a funk- give him the balance of the year to deliver, and if not, I'm sure they'll advise him to go apply for a Loan Officer position at one of the major banks.

    Geesh... :icon_banana: :icon_banana: :icon_banana:

I toyed with starting Volek until last Sunday. Rivers performed in a way that he can build on this week. Just find a way for him to get the ball to LT, Gates and Chambers in places where they can do the most damage, Norval.

It depends on what you're talking about.

They're contenders for the AFC West title simply because nobody seems to want to win the division.

They seem like pretenders for the Super Bowl, however :(
