The piece in the LA Times said this proposal is "in the event they can't get deals done in San Diego and Oakland by the end of this year, according to the teams". Ok...how do the Chargers expect to get a new stadium in San Diego with (and let's call this "proposal" what it really is) a THREAT to move the team? Hell, how do they expect to sell out a game this season? People won't read this as a contingency plan if a stadium doesn't get built down here. They'll see it as "the team is moving, why should I pay to watch them play".

The Raiders threatening to move the team isn't anything new. In fact, it would be an unusual thing if the team didn't toss that threat around at least 2-3 times a year. Also, the city of Oakland is BROKE and O.co is a dump. Does anyone see that city finding a way to keep them?

Wonder which team they would move to the NFC. You can't have two teams in the same division in the same city. My guess is Oakland would go to the NFC and the Seahawks or Cardinals would come to the AFC West

This local San Diego story omits a giant factor that the L.A. Times version includes:

THE CHARGERS & RAIDERS HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED THE LAND!

p.s. And for the record, I know most people will simplistically blame the city...or the Chargers...
but the truth is that there's plenty of blame to go around for both.
(and--to be fair--some unfortunate economic realities that gov people simply can not ignore)

Scare tactics. Basically forcing the hand of the city. Put up or shut up. No longer the bullshit of they might go. Now its pay for a stadium or they are going. All of this sucks except for the fact it may be the only way to force SD to get the stadium deal done.

Joint Statement from the Raiders and the Chargers
    Thursday, February 19, 2015 6:55 PM PST
    [IMG]
    By Chargers.com

    • We have both been working in our home markets to find a stadium solution for many years, so far unsuccessfully.
    • We remain committed to continuing to work in our home markets throughout 2015 to try to find publicly acceptable solutions to the long-term stadium issue.
    • We also both understand and respect the NFL’s relocation process, and we intend to adhere strictly to the relocation procedures that the League has set forth for Los Angeles.
    • In particular, we respect the right of the NFL’s owners to decide on all Los Angeles-related relocation issues and understand that any relocation application that is filed for Los Angeles must obtain the approval of three-fourths of the NFL’s owners.
    • Both teams have kept the NFL owners’ committee on Los Angeles, and the Commissioner, fully informed about our joint efforts.
    • We are pursuing this stadium option in Carson for one straightforward reason: If we cannot find a permanent solution in our home markets, we have no alternative but to preserve other options to guarantee the future economic viability of our franchises.
    • In short, for the remainder of 2015, we intend to move down two tracks simultaneously:
      • On track one, we will continue to work in our home markets to find permanent stadium solutions that are publicly acceptable.
      • On track two, we will work in Carson to preserve our options, and the future economic viability of our franchises, in the event that our efforts in our local markets fail.
    • Throughout this process we will respect the rules and procedures set forth by the League and defer completely to the ultimate decision of the NFL’s owners.
Yeah, this is going to go over like a fart in church...

Here's a question, how do season ticket holders from two different teams share the same seats when the two teams play against each other?

    A message from johnny619boltpride@gmail.com

Good morning Chargers fan. I'm Johnny member of Bolt Pride. The reason I'm reaching out to you is that we want all Chargers groups to join the #SaveOurBolts movement. We are planning a rally March 21, 2015 in Downtown San Diego from 12-2pm. Location will be confirmed once we get permits.
Thank you for your time and hope we can link all Chargers groups under one umbrella of #SaveOurBolts

I see it more as dividing the stadium with fences and guards like they do at soccer stadiums, Chargers fans on one side, hooligans on the other.

It's also kind of sad that the only people that will be complaining and bitching about this article and proposal are going to be the Chargers fans since most rayder fans can't even read.

Only if it actually leads to a stadium getting built in San Diego.

Right now that is one gigantic (gnarly looking) "if"

No, I meant it would be good news because this makes it look pretty likely that the Bolts will move to LA.

Or how would it be if they have a joint stadium venture in North County, say like Del Mar?

Raiders Niners was the better idea.

Hey how bout chargers go NFC and Seahawks get back to the west...

Nah the NFL will want to keep chargers in AFC.

I hope this last ditch effort THREAT does the trick and gets a SD stadium at least into the proposal stage.
