That's more like it :)" After a lackluster performance last week against Seattle, Charger fans were looking for a rebound, and the Bolts did not disappoint, thrashing the Rams 30-13. San Diego looked every bit the powerhouse team we are all expecting to see once the bell rings. RB Darren Sproles, looking to stay with the Chargers, made his case with an 81 yard punt return for a TD.

" Head Coach Norv Turner-also looking to see his new squad play a little better was pleased- "The No. 1 thing I was looking for was that improvement you make from Game 1 to Game 2, and I think we made that, we did an awful lot of good things in the first half." Still, there were penalties that have to be eliminated before this team can really hit its stride.

The Chargers Defense took the field to begin the game, and forced the Rams into a fumble on the 11th play of the drive-LB Shaun Phillips ripped the ball out of Rams RB Madison Hedgecock grasp. Bent but not broken.

" The Chargers took the ball, and proceeded right down the field, with Antonio Gates making a great catch, and Michael Turner running on all cylinders.

Vincent Jackson hauled in the 5 yard scoring pass from Philip Rivers, making a nice catch while being forced out of the back of the end zone.

7-0 Chargers-Let's roll..." End of the first quarter.

After forcing the Rams to punt, the Chargers finally popped RB Darren Sproles loose with the ball. Sproles took off up the middle, and ran over some St. Louis coverage men on his way to his 81 yard TD. Said Mr. Sproles afterwards "It feels really good, it feels good just to be out there running around." Sproles broke his leg last preseason, and is trying to stick this year. That's a good way to do it.

14-0 Chargers-game over man, game over...

The Rams managed a Kevin Lowell FG before Halftime, but otherwise were effectively shut down by the Chargers D.

14-3 Chargers at the half. I have to admit, it sure was nice watching at home for a change, and not broiling in the sun. But, I am still a gamer, and I am not quitting now, not when we are so close ... but retirement from the Q after being there every season since 1978 DOES look inviting... I sleep for 2 days now after a home game, recharging the batteries..." "

So begins the 3rd quarter, with the usual amount of subs.

The Rams managed a 42 yard FG during this time, but it's pretty clear, San Diego is by far the superior team out there. Depth is everything, and the Chargers have plenty.

End of the 3rd 14-6 Chargers, let's wrap this up and get out of Dodge..

The 3rd and 4th quarter was Billy Volek's territory, and Volek looked sharp. B.V. completed 7-of 10 for 61 yards and an 8 yard scoring pass to Scott Chandler.

20-6 Bolts ... missed the XP? Wow...

NFL veteran QB Gus Frerotte took the Rams into the end zone, with a 7 yard TD pass to Marques Hagens. Frerotte still has a little left in the tank...

20-13 Chargers, time to ice this one...

And ice it, they did. RB Germaine Race took over for injured RB Tyrone Gross (dislocated kneecap-I've done that myself-it HURTS), and scored from 13 yards out, running over several Rams along the way. DEPTH, there is no substitute for a good substitute...

27-13 Chargers

Add one Kaeding FG and we have a final score of 30-13 Chargers.

Nice effort from a team that needed one :)

Next Up-the Arizona Cardinals on the 25th-tune it in and turn it on!
