The Indianapolis Colts didn't need to win today's game against the San Diego Chargers - having secured home-field advantage through the playoffs - but they played as if they did.

Quarterback Peyton Manning and the other Colts starters played the entire game, and yet the Chargers beat them anyway 26-17, despite a number of turnovers by the Chargers quarterback Drew Brees.

The Chargers scored first on a Brees 29-yard pass to Keenan McCardell, then on three more drives that led to three Nate Kaeding field goals before the Colts even got on the board.

The Colts managed to go ahead on a 32-yard Mike Vanderjagt field goal, an Edgerrin James run and a Dallas Clark reception to go up 16 - 17

But another Nate Kaeding field goal of 49 yards turned the momentum back to the Chargers and an 83-yard Michael Turner touchdown run sealed the deal.

The Chargers now must turn their attention to beating Kansas City and Denver as the team may need the rest of its games to secure a wildcard playoff spot.
