If a team suddenly has a need for a running back, would Chargers GM A.J. Smith consider reopening trade talks for backup running back Michael Turner? "No, we're done," he fired back last week. "I made it clear that if a team loses a running back during the preseason or in September or October, do not call the Chargers about Michael Turner. I wanted our mind-set to be clear: He's a member of the Chargers as a kickoff returner and backup to LT."

Desperate people take desparate measures. AJ may just by juicing the price line. He probably firgures on keeping Turner, he probably really, really means it right now, but if someone gets really, really up against it we might find help at the only places we could use it. Our injury situation is just as fluid at this point as anybody else's. Only two things for sure, never say never and Randy Moss will never be part of the deal that probably won't happen.

I think MT is a Charger this year. It would not be good for AJ to say no way he trades MT, then turn around and trade him.

LOL you just have to love A.J's approach to that question.

"I am the rest of the leagues exucutives daddy, when you lose your running back do not ask for mine i told you the price when he was available, i did not mean maybe."

    Conc -

Sites like FanNation, Rotoworld, KFFL etc are just "clip" sites. They are not the original producers of the articles. Most of the time they take direct quotes from articles, but sometimes (not saying this case) they twist things some within the context it's presented.

Here's the source article for the fannation clip ....

    From the Boston Globe .....

    Smith is playing for keeps
