Balance. That's exactly what the management of perhaps the most defensively lopsided team of 2005 is trying to achieve with its staffing additions as of late.

The Bolts demonstrated sheer dominance against the ground attack last season, placing them first in the league against the rush. But what the opposition couldn't offensively accomplish with their running game, they achieved rather efficiently in the air. That's due to the fact that the Chargers' stellar rushing defense was no reflection on the performance of their secondary, which posted a miserable 28th league ranking against the pass, landing the team 13th in overall defense.</blockquote>
