Chargers sign former Buc Michael Spurlock. They decided best way to have "dominating, dictating defense" is to field team entirely of WR/KR.

Shame cuz Richard Goodman is so good, he's like...the 4th best returner in the league.

But yeah this is getting rediculous. Why the hell do we need this guy? It really makes me think we overpaid to get Royal if he's not going to be returning ANYTHING. O-line? D-line? 2nd RB? No.....we've got an embarrassment of riches of return men!

I thought competition was a good thing? If Goodman is the best guy to return kicks, then he should not have a problem proving it.

There're always a lot more bodies in camp than players on the final roster...... being confused by these low salary signings is in itself confusing.

Are we going to have three guys back to return kicks at the same time?

    Chargers sign WR/KR Spurlock

Well, the Chargers shouldn't be short on returners during training camp.

After adding Roscoe Parrish on Tuesday, the team turned around Wednesday and signed Micheal Spurlock to a one-year deal.

The former Buccaneers wide receiver and kick returner will compete for a roster spot in camp.

He'll also reunite with Rich Bisaccia, the Chargers' assistant head coach and special teams coach who coached Spurlock for three seasons in Tampa Bay, most recently in 2010.

That year, Spurlock averaged 25.7 yards per kickoff return and 6.9 yards on a career-high 28 punts.

Over his career, the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder averages 25.1 yards per kickoff return and 8.1 yards per punt. He also has 23 catches for 294 yards and two touchdowns.

In camp, Spurlock, 29, will join Richard Goodman, Parrish and Eddie Royal as wide receivers with heavy return backgrounds.

Royal is the only one among them whose contract runs beyond this season. He signed a three-year deal last month and is expected to have an active role on offense.

Since March 13, the Chargers have signed 14 unrestricted free agents. Only four play defense: outside linebacker Jarret Johnson, strong safety Atari Bigby, nose tackle Antonio Garay and defensive end Luis Castillo.

I'm gonna go ahead and just guess that 6 of our 8 picks are on Defense in this draft.

You guys better get ready for the spread KR formation. Eddie Royal in the middle, Goodman to his right, Parrish to his left, Spurlock running across the middle as a swing. No one will ever know whons returning th ball (including our team)!

Trade up to #9 to get one.

(if you're going to be cynical, do it right)

Maybe were going to move to the double gun. Philip stands at punter depth, we go with 3 lineman, add two more speed receivers at slot 2 and slot 3 and then stretch this **** out!

Well considering the 6 games in the AFC West and the skill of those Punters and Kickers, we are gonna need the best player at returning to be on the field to get every INCH we can steal off of STs.

Camp is all about preparing for the next season.... looks like we are doin it right.

Wow, just saw half of his career on one highlight tape.
He does have that beautiful straight-away speed once he makes
the decisive cut on his kickoff returns.

By the way, the catch on the sideline against the Bengals should
not have been called a catch, his right foot was clearly off the
ground when he gained possession of the ball.

We'll see if he can hold his own in camp. This is going to
be an interesting year for Rivers with the speed guys we've picked up.

Not sure how many of his 26 career is on that reel, but watch every single pass hit him in the hands and gets caught.

I like to think he has a good chance to find a place on the roster.

Like his speed, patience and vision in the return game. His catches look nice, but what I would like to see is how is he is a support role when others are making the catch, does he help block or just let them handle it as best they can....
