In 49 career games with the Kansas City Chiefs, Wilson caught 42 passes for 345 yards and four touchdowns.

The Chargers were in need of depth at tight end after Scott Chandler suffered a season-ending toe injury Friday night in San Francisco.

Forney, an eight-year veteran, has started 88 of 95 games played during his career with the Atlanta Falcons. Most of his action has come at guard, where he was named a first alternate to the Pro Bowl in 2005.

To make room on the roster for the two veterans, the Chargers released fullback Andrew Pinnock and placed center Cory Withrow on injured reserve.
