    Trevor Robinson 6'4, 310
    School: Notre Dame
Position: G (Listed by Bengals as C)
Bio: Three-year starter who primarily served at right guard.
Positive: Explosive position blocker with adequate size and growth potential. Quickly gets into blocks, jolts defenders at the point of attack and stays square. Seals defenders from the action and strong enough to turn opponents off the line of scrimmage. Fights with his hands, keeps defenders in front of him and is always looking for someone to hit.
Negative: Lumbers around the field and is not effective blocking in motion. Does not play with much balance.
Analysis: Robinson has been a steady player for Notre Dame the past three seasons and has enough ability to be brought into camp this summer. He E(TM)s still pretty raw, but offers potential as a backup interior lineman.

Interesting note; Robinson was a RG at ND when Watt was a C. It could be he's going to be the center OR maybe the Chargers move Robinson to RG (replace Troutman) and move Watt to Center. The two Golden Domers are used to working together.

On one hand, I welcome Mr. Robinson.

On the other hand, these days, playing center for the Chargers
is a bit like playing drums in Spinal Tap...

If there's a team to nick OL talent from, it's Cincinnati. They have, in recent history, done a damn good job of scouting and in particular coaching OL talent - and their first string line just gave up it's first sack of the season last night (in Week 5 of the season).

Going in with very tempered expectations of Robinson, given that if he'd have shown out tremendously to this point in the preseason, I'd presume he'd be on an active roster by now, but there's reason to be optimistic and hopeful that he could surprise.

Joe D has a knack for getting more out of guys than other teams manage to. It's not like we need Robinson to come in and play like a pro bowler. We just need him to be serviceable.

I wouldn't be too cocky at this point since we don't know the real status of Fluker or Troutman. Still waiting for the real injury report for next week's game @ Raiders. The possibility of having to start a rookie OG at OC for the first time, an off the street PS guy from another team (with less than a week on our play book) at RG and Willie Smith at RT should give even the Raiders reason for hope. Times are tough when you absolutely need Rinehart and Troutman to start.

Yeah. What I hear from the Cincy fans I've talked to on FF is that he's smart, agile, and athletic but not overly strong - i.e. they run straight power, iso blocking and as they put it "don't expect him to drive a NT off the LOS." But those are all qualities that lend themselves quite well to what Joe D likes to work with. Hell, if the guy just turned out to be - in the short and long-term - another Mruczkowski I'd consider it a more than adequate pickup.

If this O-line can't get straightened out it could cost more than just a RB and all this good that has been happening will be for naught. As much as I hate to say it, I'd dangle Gates for some quality O-line help and see what comes up Middle of the road running backs are a dime a dozen, QB's of Rivers caliber are a different story.

Damn it.... Greg Ducre has been swiped by the Redskins. I reckon this guy has a good future in the NFL. Imho he looked better than Stevie Williams has ever looked in preseason. Disappointed to see him go. The guy brought in to fill his spot looks like a scrub, big downgrade for me.

I think the locker room would rebel, Rivers in particular.

Why don't you just let Telesco decide what's best for the team?:p

No shite Sherlock, you have a magnificent ability to see the obvious. That's all I have been saying and it doesn't take a fawking blind man to see the woes of the current O-line situation. Then again, I have to remind myself of what this board is comprised of and crying wolf is very popular among some of villagers.

I think while I'm in Vegas I'll see what the over/under is on the number of times HEXEDBOLT pretends he's the only person on Bolttalk noticing or caring about the OL issues and injuries.

Whats even funnier is the fact I've been shooting that around for quite some time, I believe most folks know it's just kind of a joke thing, well, all except you. If I'm not mistaken, Lance posted in an answer to another poster, Hexy already has Gates traded. Thanks for the laugh and you just keep following your leader, you'll get there.
