Vikings coach Mike Tice is already down a few running backs, and he was not pleased at the thought of losing another Friday night against the San Diego Chargers.

After reviewing film, Tice said running back Mewelde Moore suffered a sprained left ankle when he was horse-collar tackled by Chargers linebacker Stephen Cooper, according to the NFL's official game summary. That style of tackle has been a point of emphasis this preseason, although Cooper was not penalized.

Tice also was upset about a hit to backup quarterback Brad Johnson's knee, and another dangerous tackle. On that play, Chargers linebacker Matt Wilhelm reached back and grabbed Nate Burleson's face mask, spinning the receiver around.

"I thought they were very questionable, their techniques, aggression level," Tice said.

"We will send it in," he added. "We have to. We can't allow that to happen in this league."

Tice acknowledged that he is a "little concerned" about all the injuries to his running backs.

Starter Michael Bennett was limited last week because of a neck strain, but he said late last week he hoped to play in the exhibition finale. During Saturday's brief practice, Bennett worked as part of the scout team, while veteran Moe Williams played the role of starter.

Rookie Ciatrick Fason will return to practice this week after being sidelined with a mild high ankle sprain.

Moore could miss a day or two of practice.
