SAN DIEGO-The San Diego Chargers have taken Kansas safety Darrell Stuckey with the 12th pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft, the 110th selection overall.

Stuckey was one of the highest-rated strong safeties in the draft. There's a chance the Chargers will use him at free safety.

The Chargers had moved up in the fourth round as part of the big deal with Miami on Thursday that allowed San Diego to pick Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews with the 12th pick overall.

The Chargers' current starting strong safety is Kevin Ellison and the free safety is Eric Weddle.
