Was pondering where we stand thus far...

We are listed as 4th in the AFC west because we have in 2 games 61 points scores against us. According to the standing on my NFL Mobile app, only 3 other teams have had more points scored against them, they are (in no particular order) Redskins (71), Giants (77), and the Vikings (65). All 3 teams are 0-2.

Conversely The Chargers have scored 61 points in 2 games, only 3 teams have scored more, they are (in no particular order) Denver (90), Packers (66), and the Eagles (63).

Lets call this the Yin & Yang effect.

Digging deeper and looking at the team stats as shown at NFL.com...
Offense is right where I figured it...
    Over all Team O: 7th
    Passing O: 11th
    Rushing O: 15th
Scoring O: 4th <--- To me this is the key stat to judge the O by, though W/L certainly carries more weight.

Defense is very confusing... Very confusing indeed. According to NFL.com here is where we rank defensively.
Over all Team D: 2nd <--- Not bloodly well likely!
Passing D: 1st <--- Whisky Tango Foxtrot over!
We have the most passing yards against us, that right there should have us as 32nd, and Seattle as 1st. Are they reversed in their order?!
    Rushing D: 12th
    Scoring D: 4th

In short I think NFL.com is either jackfrosted up, or I am just too dumb to see how things line up with defensive stats. Our D is not the top D in the league by any stretch of the imagination. No, no need to enlighten me on if the stats are jackfrosted up, or I am just too dumb to see how things line up with defensive stats, but thank you for the thought...

Looks to me like the D stats were sorted worst first.
2 games in it doesn't mean anything yet anyway.

Stats can be skewed to say anything you want. We have 1 win and 1 loss that is the bottom line.

Fun fact: The Chargers are giving up 7.83 yards on first down; yes, that's the worst average in the NFL.

Yep and if you click on the yards/game category it will sort the "correct" way ...

Well facing two prolific offenses in a row will inspire that statistical anomaly

Kansas City has one of the best defenses in the league right now but then again face Dallas and Jacksonville and it won't be hard.

I absolutely agree with that, 100%!!!!

(but I'd also feel compelled to add that playing 20.6 yards off of opponent's wide receivers probably contributes as well)
