Chargers Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer vividly remembers the day 29 years ago when the New York Giants cut him, ending his playing career in the National Football League. Because of that experience, he dreads days like Saturday when he's on the other side of the table informing players of their future with his team.

A somber Schottenheimer announced Saturday that the Bolts cut 21 players in order to reach the 53-player limit that NFL rosters must meet.

Linebacker Phil Archer, defensive tackle Ryon Bingham, offensive tackle Wesley Britt, safety Robb Butler, defensive tackle Jemelle Cage, wide receiver Greg Camarillo, cornerback Jonathan Cox, cornerback Markus Curry, linebacker Robby Farmer, wide receiver Malcom Floyd, cornerback Gabe Franklin, running back Ahmaad Galloway, offensive tackle Cory Lekkerkerker, wide receiver Ruvell Martin, wide receiver Carl Morris, running back Ray Perkins, defensive end Robert Pollard, tight end Duncan Reid, center Isaiah Ross, guard Wes Sims, and tight end Danny Young were among players cut by the Chargers.</blockquote>
