I can only hope that his two HC failures were due to overly posessive owners (Snyder in DC, Davis in Oakland).

Unbelievably average hire by A.J. Smith here. I hope you guys run him out of town next year if this doesn't work. Marty struggled in January..................has Norv ever played in January???

Hmmmmmm.... I did want him to stick around several years ago, but I think I wanted a defensive minded HC.

Remember, everyone was reporting for two weeks that Turner was the guy in Dallas and that didn't happen.

btw i'll add someting else about norv turner

I don't think any of us will hold it against him that he failed in oakland because...lets face it, it was al davis. But he took over the Redskins in 1994, later that year the previous owner died and Dan Snyder bought the team (I wasn't sure about it during the show so I investigated) and frankly Snyder's been a constant pain in the *** ever since he bought it. He'd overrule who Norv wanted to bring in in both front office and coaching staff and SNyder would follow his own demented drummer in hte draft and with the draft picks

ant whut about the principle of hiring a former faiders coach ,sure ppl will say as long as he is qualifeied why should it matter but of course it matter football is about character and integrity and if turner is really signed then this team just lost a lot of both

he who claimed Pagano's the DC can not tell people to STFU

btw reef shark I don't blame him for taking the head coaching job in Oakland because it was an open one and he was pretty much the last good coach to be offered the job. He wanted to be a HC again, every coach that was one wants to be one. NOthing wrong with taking that job

Agreed about the part with Norv. Cotrell has already been reported to be signing with SD and norv.

he was a coach from 2004-2005 that's when the raiders really fell apart
Before then he was OC Miami, OC SAN DIEGO (helped teach LT and Brees for a year), HC Washington, OC DALLAS COWBOYS (Remember those great 90s teams? Turner was the OC).

He's an offensive genious and now that he's in a more stable environment he might just pull it off

I'm not too thrilled about Cottrell

yes i know those cowboys teams i can tell you straight up that the 92 cowboys team is one of the best if not the best ever bc of the players not bc of turner. that offense is kinda similar to ours although they really had an amazing offensive line. anyways the raiders offense went downhill with turners coaching there even with game breakers like randy and porter.

if he pulls it off here i wont be surprised, bc again i think the players are whuts carrying everything

If you think about it, Norv is an offensive type guy. He might be a better fit for our offense. Just maybe he wont waste our talents on this side of the ball and bring us some exciting ball to watch. Just no more run run pass ****.

I might be a little more critical of run run run pass if our RB was not LT and our receivers actually impressed anyone. But when the best player on offense is in the backfield what's wrong with run run run pass?

We don't know this for sure. It takes another working relationship to find out what side of the ball it was on, or if it was just them two.

Basically, for all we know Marty and AJ just don't get along.

If AJ starts having marital spats with Norv...then I wll determine him a bit of a headcase that can't get along with anyone.

In the meantime I give him the benifit of the doubt that perhaps he just couldn't get along with Marty.

At least Norv knows our offense. He is the one who installed it, afterall.
