Several new T-shirts, replete with words printed in Chargers-style rounded capital font, are hanging in lockers and being worn by players this year.
On the front of one shirt are the words, “MAKE US BETTER.”
It is a representation of one of the themes that has been stressed at Chargers Park this year.
“What are you going to do make the guy next to you better, how are you going to make us better?” Norv Turner said. “We’ve always talked about, ‘Hey, go out and have your best year.’ And that’s important to me, because if everyone has that mindset, then you’re going to be pretty good. Most of the guys in this room have gotten better every single year, and every year they have their best year ever. So if you keep doing that, eventually you’re going to be pretty good. The next step, obviously, is, ‘How do you make the guy you’re lined up next to better?
“And some of it doesn’t have anything to do with being on the field. It happens in the locker room, it happens in the training room, it happens in a meeting. What are you doing? What is Takeo Spikes doing to helpDonald Butler to be a better player, because he can do that. He’s been in the league 14 years. There’s a responsibility on his shoulders. The number one responsibility is to play good, the number two responsibility is to help Donald Butler be a better player, because right now he’s a young guy, and he needs it.”
It remains to be seen whether quarterback Philip Rivers wears the new shirt more than his staple t-shirts from the Piggly Wiggly grocery store.
Then again, pigs have a new significance to Rivers as well.
Every year, Rivers affixes a sticker to his truck’s back window as a sort of mission statement. This year’s sticker reads, “The chicken or the pig?”
Explains Rivers: “(In a) bacon-and-egg breakfast, the chicken is involved in the breakfast but the pig is fully committed. Are you involved? Or are you all the way in?”

I disagree. Practice is important but will never match the speed and impact of game time. Championships are won when a culture of confidence and an expectation of winning is achieved...

Last year in 2010 the Rancho San Diego Little League All Stars in the 9-10 year division Took the California State Championship, their 10-11 Year old All Star team took the same Championship Title, Their 11-12 year Team lost in the semi finals for the right to go Williamsport, in 2009 the 9-10 team and the 10-11 team also took the same Titles. This year every kid at their field was wearing an undershirt with that phrase.

This year the 9-10 year team lost in the State Championship game, that is 3 years in a row the same league has played for the State Championship.
