Chargers won’t raise ticket prices for ‘09

    SAN DIEGO (AP)—The San Diego Chargers said Tuesday they will not raise the price of season tickets for the 2009 season.

    Regular-season prices will remain at $48 per game, while seats in the club section will begin at $140 per game.

    The team also said it will lower the price on approximately 1,300 tickets next year in expanded family sections. The season ticket price in those sections will be $48 per game and alcohol will be banned.

    “We have listened to the many fans who are interested in bringing their family and sitting in the family section,” executive vice president A.G. Spanos, the grandson of owner Alex Spanos, said in a statement. “With these changes for 2009, the Chargers will now have one of the largest designated family areas in the NFL.”

    The Chargers (5-8) were projected by many to reach the Super Bowl but instead have been all but mathematically eliminated from contention in the AFC West. They trail the Denver Broncos by three games with three to go.

    The team needed help from the local Fox affiliate and the NFL Network to guarantee sellouts of its last two games and lift the local TV blackout.

    Now I hope it is a good sign that the Chargers will stay in San Diego for good.

    Raising ticket prices after the debacle they've given us this year would be PR suicide.

    Nice to see all it takes to get prices kept at the same level is a complete failure of all expectations

    some deal - i'd pay more if we were hosting a lombardi and tolerate it quite nicely

    Plus with a ****** economy it wouldn't be too smart to raise prices.

    omg no way.. I don't know how they'd charge more than 9 bucks for an anchor steam..

    Now how about parking prices?

    They should either give us more than four hours to tailgate or lower the price.

    ...It's a good sign that they realize what fools they'd be for hiking the ticket prices after the GIANT TURD this team layed on us. Kind of like constantly being late for work, showing up hungover or not at all, then asking the boss for a raise :icon_rofl:

    **** after last season they need to lower prices :icon_rofl: unfortunately I am not going to get them next year.
