He was the coach at KC last year, correct? I don't think he was there very long though, and it will be nice to see him back in SD!

As much talk as there was in here about this, I thought it was just wishful thinking.

    I'm a little gun shy

I would hate to voice my opinion on this hire given the recent trend towards attacking posters with less than a bright shade of rose colored glasses

    :icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek:

    but wtf

    I LIKE IT!!!!!

"In other news, quarterback Philip Rivers had successful surgery to repair the torn ACL in his right knee. He will not participate in offseason workouts, but is expected to make a full recovery by June or July."

    Hahaha... this is great news.

I liked Lofton and am sure he'll be picked up somewhere soon. Nothing against Lofton, but having a Charger great return here just feels right.

I don't get why they fired our WR coach , I mean Gates, Jackson, Chambers, all played outstanding. I didn't see a need for change in that area. I can understand the RB coach cause we weren't using that area to the best of SD abilities. Hopefully this all works out for the best. I think this will be good though for the Chargers . Change seems to work for our team.

Yeah. It appears that once they learned that Charlie Joiner was released by Herm in KC at the beginning of January, things began working out that way.

Not sure either but there's two opinions
    1. Norv wanted to hire someone he worked with better
    2. There's rumors that the WRs really didn't learn anything or get any useful instruction from Lofton

From JoelBolt's (at Chargers.COM) post detailing Joiner's coaching history and prowess:

So, he was our WR coach when Anthony Miller had his breakout 1000 yard season

He was the Bills WR coach when Eric Moulds had his 1000 yard seasons.

He was KC's WR coach when Eddie Kennison had back-to-back 1000 yard seasons. And rookie Dwayne Bowe was 5 yards shy of a 1000 yard season!

So, Joiner has a history of developing Pro Bowl caliber WR that can produce 1000 yard seasons.

o, why did Herm Edwards let him go in KC? Probably because Joiner was a Dick Vermeil hire, and Herm wants his own hand-selected people in there. Nearly all the coaches let go from KC were Vermeil hires.

Charlie Joiner was Mr. Clutch on 3rd downs. He was Mr. Dependable however, I have heard from my close sources, he is an ahole to interview. I would have never suspected it but that is what I was told to my face (sorry Thumper No linky).

I hope he is able to teach and not just collect a paycheck. :bolt:

I will reserve that judgement until I see what he does with our boys.

One thing I dug about Charlie Joiner as a player was everytime he caught the ball and hit the ground, he would cheat up the ball a few inches. He did it almost all the time and sometimes it was so obvious, it was funny.
