Yes. And years of seeing his posts etc... It was not a great mystery to many who knew him.

But if you choose to believe that CBF was the shooter on the grassy knoll, so be it... ;)

Well thank you, this is brand new information to me! I don't care if you draw comparisons between posts, I care that he (Oz) actually admitted to being Burlington.

That's pretty much all you had to say, and you could have even left out the weak sarcasm the end.

What a short/non-existent memory you have. Syd and Conc were MODS during the whole Oz/BBB era. They were also MODS during the time I was posting. So they know who I am and who was (well, still is) Oz/BBB.

So what?:coffee: What does being a Mod have to do with knowing who someone is? (Speaking as someone who never has been nor will ever be a moderator here)

If I wanted to use a pejorative against a Native American, I wouldn't call them a Redskin, because A) I don't think it's a pejorative, B) using racial or perceived racial slurs is unoriginal and lame, and reflects negatively on the intelligence of the user, and C) ever since the national policy of manifest destiny was achieved, the concept of a Native American having an element of "otherness" has faded almost to the point of nonexistence.

The tremendous difference between "Redskin" and "insert racial slur of your choice" is that the term "Redskin" was born of conflict and otherness, the same way that the Germans were called "Huns" in WWI/II. The conflict ended over 100 years ago, which is also why I wouldn't walk up to a Native American and call them a Redskin, because the word has no significance in the 21st century.

****** hell it's like pulling teeth with you guys, every bit of information comes with extreme reluctance and a healthy dose of prick. I'm not sure what your problem is right now, but chill out buddy.

That's interesting. Would you call someone a Jackanape if you wanted to insult them? How about a rapscallion? Those were insults worth shooting people over a few hundred years ago. Today, it's doubtful that anyone would grasp that they were being insulted, let alone actually feel insulted. Why? Because English is not a dead language.

I'm talking to you to when I say that too, and especially @Sydalish I'm not sure when you assumed Oz being BBB was confirmed universal knowledge around here (I know it was suspected), but I assure you it wasn't.

 That was the point you were making? Really? "Drf yeah, he's been around a really long time, so there is no way he could create a new email account and sign up to BT under a different name"...yeah...sure. :roflmao:

Anyway better points have been made since that worthless one you were so eager to agree with, and I agree he's probably not BBB.

    BBB = Oz

I thought that was common knowledge. If not allow me to make it so (insert Picard meme here)

    I dont know.

Rob Roy (the movie) clearly illustrated how Jackanape was an insult if not making it clear as to why (it being an insult to suggest one of an 'old house' supports the upstart nobles who arose from the merchant class such as William de la Pole, 1st Duke of Suffolk)...

Rapscallion has many uses, but mainly was used to describe street urchins who would often pick the pockets of good working folk...

Irish used to be a slur. M grandfather had an old sign from NY which said 'Bartender needed, Irish need not apply'...

Different things mean different things at different times.

I believe one point some tried to make here is Redskins has universally been considered a slur by many. Much like Ginny, Limey, and Raider Fan...

Calling a Native American a redskin would still be insulting now. Just like calling someone a **** or a *** would still be insulting, even if its not common vernacular anymore.

    From: http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/us/definition/american_english/redskin

It had been a term of disparagement, but does anyone use it as such? To me, that's the point. Does anyone use the word Redskin to refer to anything/one other than the NFL team and its players?

Sure, but does anyone actually call Native Americans Redskins pejoratively? I mean, if we were to sit in the parking lot at a casino on a reservation, would we hear people in the parking lot complaining about those "f'ing Redskins" taking their money?

Yes, I bet you very well could. I've heard plenty of outdated slurs used throughout my life, things I couldn't believe we're still said. Like "colored". There are plenty of racist assholes still amongst us, to believe otherwise is naive.

The fact remains that the Redskins organization markets itself and makes millions off of their name, a disparaging word meant to belittle an entire race of people.

I can't speak to here, but I know on the sites I moderate for the moderators are able to view the IP address on an account and compare. If two accounts are registered from the same IP, it's a pretty good indicator that it's the same person (unless it's roommates or spouses or something).

So as long as I don't consider a term I use as a pejorative and/or view it as outdated, then it's no longer an insult.

    Got it.

Wrap it up in all the pretty language you want, Ikeman. The white privilege still comes shining through to illuminate the ******* you are.

If this offends anyone, I apologize ahead of time (it's not my intent to offend), but are you saying that if someone were to found a franchise today and name them the Portland Porch Monkeys, you wouldn't think the fact that a slur was used as the mascot was a big deal because it's not "so recently used?"

I guarantee you that when the team was founded the term Redskin was still used derogatorily. They originated as the Boston Braves then decided to change to the Redskins when they relocated to DC Metro in 1937. Common misnomer is that the racists and bigots are only heavily concentrated in the Deep South. Parts of NorCal, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming (the later three which are also host to a fair amount of reservations) have more than their fair share of bigots.

So, you think that Daniel Snyder has kept the name "Redskins" because the name is meant to belittle an entire race of people? Come on.
