Vote on who you think will start. Thursday's injury list shows Olivea as doubtful - did NOT participate in practice.

Clary handled himself well vs. the Pats. He wasn't the reason why we lost.

    Clarymonster.

Hopefully he'll prove to the coaches that he's ready to take the starting job from Olivea.

Clary and hopefully he supplants Olivea as the permanent starter.

Who knows, this might be the opening Clary needs to hopefully become our RT of the future, and move Olivea inside, and make Goff a backup.

That thought has crossed my mind. If nothing else, we will get to see Clary in action - in real games - and that gives another basis for us blabbing our opinion on yet another subject all offseason.

If Clary doesn't work out well, then AJ needs to spend a first rounder on one of Oklahoma's massive beefy boys on the OL.

Preferably get the Robinson twins: 6' 5" 330 lbs each.

O Line would have been a priority in any case. Contrary to the apparent prohibitive majority, I'm for Oben this time around.

I'd start Clary, but make sure that Oben is ready to go.

My Tivo tells a different story, that dude got manhandled, he got beat off the edge by speed and dumped on his *** by bullrushing. I don't want to see that guy on the field ever again. I don't care if I'm being harsh on a newcomer, he looked like chit so he blended in nicely with our team last sunday.

Kampman's a beast. I don't know if Clary is gonna have enough to hold that dude back, so I hope Norv came up with a "Plan B" just in case. Maybe a shotgun package this week with some no huddle????? Sarcastic note to Norv: It's ok to come up with something new that will throw the defense off and get your QB into a rhythm!!!

I would like to see if Oben has anything left. They could use his leadership. If he gets burned, they could go with Clary.

In that case expect a lot of three step drops and out routes to the left side of the field. Unless Norv wants to prove he can look as clueless as he did last week and try to attack the right side of the field like it's our strong point.

I mentioned this a while back. Olivea seems much more suited to guard. Great place for his vaunted mean streak on the field.

The Chargers will go to Green Bay with their fingers crossed that the right side of the offensive line can hold up.

Right tackle Shane Olivea missed another practice Thursday with a back injury he suffered in Sunday's loss at New England. While veteran Roman Oben is available to fill in, it appears the Chargers are going to roll the dice with first-year pro Jeromey Clary.

The unknown Clary will play a key role if the Chargers want to spit out that sour taste from Sunday's blasting. But 6-foot-6, 306-pound Clary, a sixth-round pick in 2006, will have his hands full.

If it's Clary, he'll be getting his first NFL start. He played most the game Sunday night when Olivea went down early, but this is the first week he likely trots out with the first team.

Waiting for Clary is Aaron Kampman. The Packers' dominating left end led the NFC with 15.5 sacks last year.

The Chargers need to shore up a pass protection which saw Philip Rivers get sacked three times and hit on numerous other occasions against the Patriots.

For Clary, who spent last year on the practice squad, it's a golden opportunity to make his mark against one the NFL's elite pass-rushers.

Quarterback Philip Rivers said he held up well on the road at New England.

"He really stepped in and played well," Rivers said. "He studies, he works, he listens. I think (Sunday) was good for him."

The coaching staff already knows the answer to that. At this point in the season, wouldn't it be wiser to get Clary some more game time?

p.s. The perceived weak link on the right side of the line was actually Manu who had his worst game as a Charger if not as a Pro.

I know what you're talking about, and manu got schooled too, but 66 didn't do **** either. He got beat and looked ugly doing it the whole time he was in the game.

I don't think Clary did bad ... he didn't do great either, but he wasn't the problem on Sunday. He never got toasted like Manu, or McNeill for that matter.

It's easy to blame the new guy who hasn't had any starters reps, but seriously, he wasn't even the worst OL vs the Pats.

The OL group, as a whole, needs to nut up and do their damn jobs.
