He finds open holes in the return game. He's got good speed. He doesn't put the damn ball on the ground.

I'd much rather see SD have a return man that doesn't figure in to the offense or defense for over 50% of the plays. It would hurt the team to lose Turner or Parker or Cromartie to a similar injury that befell Sproles. If Gordon can be the dime CB, then it's a plus.

    Gordon's return stats vs. Chicago

    KO 4 returns - Avg 28.0 yds - Long 52 yds

    PR 4 returns - Avg 2.2 - Long 12 yards

PR avg sucks on paper, but it included a -1 and -3 yard return. Also, some good returns were called back because of ST penalties. Overall, Cletis "Flash" Gordon was the biggest bright spot in SD's game vs. Chicago.

    I agree.

Cletis Gordon should be our returner.

The Bolts screwed up two seasons ago by keeping an oft-injured and declining Tim Dwight on the roster.

What did it cost the Chargers?

It cost loosing a decent UDFA return man in Wes Welker, because SD tried to hide Welker on the practice squad after the 2004 season opener and he was snatched up by Miami.

It also cost San Diego a 4th round draft pick in 2005, when we saw the Chargers use that pick on Sproles.

Was it an AJ move, or was the coach sticking with a "Marty guy" in Dwight? I don't know, and neither does anyone else in here.

I just don't want to see SD make the same mistake again. Keep Gordon as the KR/PR and train him up to be the dime CB.

I sure as heck don't want to lose Turner, Parker, Cromartie or another player who is a vital cog in the offense or defense - on a special teams return.

I was only one preseason gae, but I agree, Cletis Gordon looked good. He had good vision and speed. He got out of the way on a punt that he had little chance of catching without getting creamed. Good choice. Ended up being a touchback. And he held on to the ball. I liked the way he moved and do think we need to find a spot on the roster for this kid.

I think the first team defense was the biggest bright spot, but Cletis was a close second. He definitely has the skills to be a solid returner. We must find a roster spot for him. Maybe we could give him Leander Jordan's.

No kidding. That was a hideous performance so may as well get hammered. I did. There was nothing redeeming in that performance other than Cletus is not a dead fetus and showed promise.

MadMike is the ****! He's got the best home theater setup of all of us.

We are all lowly serfs compared to him.

Ok, I am done with :kisskiss: for today.
