Raiders WR Louis Murphy arrested early Sunday

    Staff report
    Sporting News
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Louis Murphy was arrested early Sunday morning in Gainesville, Fla., accused of three misdemeanor offenses.

Murphy, 23, was arrested for possession of a drug without a valid prescription, for failure to obey police officers and for resisting arrest without violence, according to The Gainesville Sun.

Gainesville police observed Murphy's Cadillac Escalade with the stereo playing loudly and attempted to pull over the vehicle. Murphy didn't pull over as requested and instead proceeded to a parking lot. Murphy (6-2, 180) refused to present identification and police say it took three officers to subdue him and place him into custody, according to The Sun.

Upon search of Murphy's vehicle, police found “non-labeled prescription bottle containing 11 individual pills later identified as Viagra,” and police say Murphy could not provide a prescription.

This isn't Murphy's first run-in with Gainesville police. When a student at the University of Florida, he was arrested for possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams) in 2006. In a plea deal for that offense, he paid a $125 fine and did 12 1/2 hours of community service.
