I have been looking everywhere for information on this guy and cannot find anything. Does anyone know why he hasn't signed? Is he still at the porn convention he attended over the summer?

WTF is going on, he was the 18th pick and is a D tackle, should have been one of the first off the board.

this is normal for a first rounder unfortuantely. I am not sure if the players drafted around him have signed yet or not. I saw a tweet the other day indicating that he was waiting for a couple of other players to sign before accepting his offer. Take that for what it is worth, as it is from my groggy memory.

And here I thought the new rookie salary system would stop these kind of holdouts!

I don't think it does much for the structure of the deal, it just limits the total amount available. Now players will just demand their whole contracts to be guaranteed instead of 40 or 50% of them like they previously had

Word is that some guys think they deserve more money, since they were projected to be picked higher...... Crabtree situation all over again.

It looks like the ONLY debate with Liuget was whether there should be a 3 or 4 year guarantee. If that's taking this long we are moving into holdout territory

You spend your first on a guy & then want to dance over whether he should get a 3 or 4 yr. contract?

    What unadulterated horseshit.

Especially when nearly all the players around him have gotten that 4th year guaranteed.

Let me see if I understand this. If the Chargers do a 3 yr guarantee, does that mean the guy could potentially be a FA after yr 3?. I don't recall talk of guaranteed years before in terms of $. Has this replaced the signing bonus in the new CBA?.

Pretty much. Example, last year, Jason Pierre-Paul was drafted #15. He got $20 million, with $11.6-million guaranteed. This year, #15 was Mike Pounce. He got 4 years, $9.3Mil total and $9.3 Mil Guaranteed.

Since players are getting less total, they are looking for their entire contract to be guaranteed, and most are getting it.

And if they are not given 4 years guaranteed, I do think the team would still be signing them to a 4 years deal, just the 4th year wouldn't be guaranteed, so they would still have control for that 4th year, they would just have the option of releasing the guy and not being on the hook for the money if they decide to, Just like with the old CBA

I get it thanks. So the team still wants to control the guys movements for 4 yrs but only wants to guarantee them 3 in money terms. In the case of Jason PP (above) he could have been cut before playing a down and the team would be on the hook for $11.6m. Under the new CBA they are guaranteeing more of the contract but less comparatively, I see.

Well, they are not guaranteed more by the CBA, but there isn't anything saying they can't have more, and most are demanding more. If you look at the link I posted earlier in the thread, you will see the vast majority of rookies have been guaranteed their entire 4 year contract. I don't see why some teams would try to go cheap with these guys when they are already getting them for less than they would have in the past

I thought it was closed to the public, I had to RSVP the Chargers, then I needed to print my confirmation email from them to take down to will call at the stadium where I get two wrist bands, then we get in a bus to go up to the practice facility.

Out of curiosity, since I don't follow other teams as closely, is there any other team that has had as many 1st round holdouts as we have had?
