It was a conditional trade of which nobody fully explained. The guy started every game this year, the Jets made the playoffs....do we get the Jets' 2nd round pick for him?

I dunno. I remember hearing something about him playing 12 games, and the Jets performance as a team factored in, but none of the news guys had any details.

I've asked about the escalators on this deal a few places & have yet to get a firm answer or find the details.

I also read if they sign him longterm. Now the Jets could release him (wink wink deal) then sign him again and the whole condition would be void. This way they could avoid losing the higher pick.

    EDIT:
    1) Cro plays a certain amount of snaps.
    2) Cro gets extended.
    3) Jets make the Playoffs.

    No valid link to provide.

I don't know but would hope that there is some wording to prevent this type of maneuvering. Otherwise, why even bother with a conditional pick for a trade? Every team would pull this stunt.

I think we get a slightly used tackling sled that actually tackles from the jetz...

Take it for what it is worth, but I read something from Kevin Acee that said it is likely to 3rd. Not sure why he said it, but that is what he said

I thought Cro had to sign some kind of new deal to get 500k upfront, that the Chargers wouldn't give him. Something about paying his baby mommas up to date.

I'm gonna be irritated if its only a late 3rd. Considering they made the playoffs and Cro played every game, I can't imagin what conditions are left.

Hey if it's a 2nd or 3rd I'll TAKE IT. That could turn out to be a great player you never know. Then again with AJ's recent draft history who knows.....

AJ will just use it as a throw in to trade up and draft someone he could have gotten with it by itself.

I've been lukewarm with AJ for about three years now. I figure it's time to lower the bar even more.

AJ is only as good as his "Director of College Scouting" is. AKA John Spanos.

Buddy Nix is gone and John Spanos is left at the helm of drafting / scouting or whatever. Nepotism is a bi*ch and effectively ties the hands of the GM or in other words, John Spanos can not be fired by AJ Smith for suckingas.s. as an employee / owner.

Yeah I want a 2nd. We spent a top 20 pick on the guy, he's played every game this year, they made the playoffs, we shouldn't be at the mercy of the Jets wallets knocking this pick back from maybe 55 to 87.

It could give us a chance to package both 2nds, and move back into the 1st.

After Garcon shreds Cro for 100+ and 2 TDs you can change the title of this thread to: Cromartie Finished

mmm I think the Jets will probably win...so we would get a 2nd rounder GREAT...but at the same time I would love to see the beaten up Colts beat the Jets!! lol

That would be worth settling for a 3rd rounder to me! lol

Good news, a 2nd rounder for that chucklehead. Now, AJ, please avoid the temptation to pizz it away on another SEC glory position.

Beef. Beef. And more beef. OLB included in the definition.

Maybe Orlando Franklin or JJ Watt for that second round pick?

I REALLY hope AJ doesn't do that. We have too many needs to go packaging pick together for a guy that will take a year or 2 to have any semblance of impact.

So, why is it an automatic assumption that the guy we'd get with the extra 1st round pick would take 2 to 3 years to have any semblance of impact but not the 2 people we'd get with the 2nd rounders?

agreed i think butler and stuckey can be a big contributer, but i think if we out out in the 1st and get a OLb in akeem ayers, or DE in Ryan kinergan, then in the 2nd we can draft deandre mcdaniel, and Greg Jones, then in the 3rd we could grab, Chimdi Chekwa and Marcus Gilbert, then get Chris Matthews
