Because its not enough. Cromartie has a Pro Bowl and a 10 INT season under his belt, and at least has been a starter for the last 2+yrs.
Choice is the same age and has never had more than 100 carries in a season, I'm not sure we couldn't get the same out of somebody like Ben Tate in the 3rd or 4th round.

It would be a hell of an upgrade for the Cowboys, a 4th round pick for a top 20 pick.....I'd take nothing less than an early 2nd round pick for Cro. It just sounds too lopsided for me.

I also saw this but I think he would be more of a Sproles replacement. I don't think he is an every down back.

You know who else was a top 20 pick? Ryan L#%$

You can't judge a player's worth on the trade market based on where they were drafted when the player already has actual experience at the NFL level under his belt.

I'm not saying Cro for Choice is an even swap, I'm just responding to your argument that it isn't because Cro was a top 20 pick and Choice was a 4th rounder.

By that logic, the Patriots would make out like bandits if we traded Cro for Tom Brady because Brady was only a 6th rounder.

Choice?, meh. Gimme Felix Jones for Cro straight up and we have a deal.

Somehow I doubt the Cowboys would go for that.

I'm not sure AJ would go for it either. Again I argue that Cromartie is only 25yrs old and has proven he can play at a pro bowl level, although not consistantly. All Felix Jones has done is make the occasional flashy play and battle injuries since day one.

He's better than Choice, but lets get picks!

Living in Arkansas I have seen a lot of Felix. It would be well worth it, especially since it would be filling a position of need for us.

I just don't think Dallas would go for it.

I don't think Dallas has a huge need for CB right now anyway. Mike Jenkins is developing fast and Newman is always solid.

I agree, you can't value something based on the original investment (same thing applies in business, although the NFL is a business). Sometimes you just have to cut your losses. Not sure if we're at that point with Cromartie though. Not really a big fan of Choice so not really enthused by the rumor.

Because he really need help at MLB. Cooper is average at best, plus he is getting older and gets ran over more than Weddle and the rest of the guys are role players

Karlos Dansby would be a nice addition to our LB corps.

Can we sign him even if we wanted to with the restrictions?

    Not until we lose someone.

How exactly does that even work?

If a team can't sign someone until they lose someone how can the ball even get rolling?

Wouldn't someone else have to sign a player before anyone can lose someone? But that team can't sign anyone until they lose someone?

Its only the final 8 teams that are restricted. So New Orleans, Indy, Minnessota, San Diego, NY Jets, Arizona, Dallas, Baltimore and Philly are not allowed to sign a free agent until they lose one.

So for example, if New England were to sign Kassim Osgood....we'd be free to negotiate with any and all free agents.

We can sign one FA with a 1st year salary of around $5mil or more in addition to the players we can sign to replace the players we lose

    Not true.

    http://www.chargers.com/news/articl...-Answers/603b4476-4c8c-442a-b327-faf297b7012e

"For the four clubs that lost in the Divisional Playoffs, in addition to having the ability to sign free agents based on the number of their own free agents signing with other clubs, they may also sign players based on specific financial parameters. Those four only will be permitted to sign one unrestricted free agent for $5.5 million (estimated) or more in year one of the contract, plus the number of their UFAs who sign with another team."

So we can sign 1 UFA in addition to the replacements, but that one player has to have a 1st year contract of ~$5.5 mil
