Adam Schefter from NFL network just tweeted this:

Are the Raiders so bad that an NFL quarterback would rather be unemployed than play for them?

Minimum salary for a 10+ yr player is $845,000. That's a lot to leave on the table.

Exactly. Situation must have really sucked for him to ask to be released.

It could be a combination of things, person matters, sick parent, the work enviornment sucks, who knows?

I think he may have been the starter at some point during the season. Russell doesn't have it.

Well, Jeff is a smart guy. He saw the train wreck in progress that is the Raiders.

    Wonder who'll pick him up.

Hmmm...Patriots need a veteran backup QB. I wonder if Garcia likes fried clams in crumbs?

Or else he didn't want a pool ball in his mouth, a dog collar and a lead held by Robert Gallery.

Not a chance. Just another spin move by old man Al trying to avoid paying everything he owes.

Doesn't surprise me. He wants to be a starter, probably he signed with the Raiders in the 1st place, probably figured it'd be a lock.

If he's going to backup why the hell would he want to do it for the Raiders, when he could do it for the Pats or another contender, or even just wait for a team to suffer a QB injury.
