The release of Chris Chambers was in part to make room for a much-needed infusion at linebacker and on special teams.

The Chargers will likely sign Darry Beckwith or James Holt, both linebackers, later today or tomorrow.

Even with Kevin Burnett set to return from an anle injury that has sidelined him the past two games, the Chargers are thin at linebacker.

Whoever is signed will fill in for Tim Dobbins, whose knee injury appears it will keep him out at least two weeks.

"It allows us to get another guy up on Sundays who can contribute in the kicking game, where we have taken a step back," Norv Turner said. "With injuries and new guys, we're not as good as we have been. We have to address that."

Bad news on Dobbins, just when it looks like we might get turned around BAM it happens again.

Yeah, that's a bummer Dobbins is down. But we might get to see what we have in Darry Beckwith. I know he was considered a "sleeper" pick and had a solid PreSeason. Big hitter. Put him on ST. Lord knows we need help on kickoff coverage....

Hey, maybe if Dobbins and the Chargers had better conditioning, a LB could withstand two players and 600 lbs falling on his knee.
